Job Title: Land Development Team Lead
Job Description
The Land Development Team Lead is responsible for overseeing a team of engineers and technical staff in the planning, design, and execution of land development projects. This role ensures that projects meet regulatory requirements, client expectations, and internal quality standards while fostering a collaborative and high-performance team environment.
Responsibilities
+ Lead and manage a team of engineers and drafters through all phases of land development projects—from concept to construction.
+ Coordinate with municipal agencies, clients, and internal stakeholders to secure permits and approvals.
+ Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, ensuring continuous development and knowledge sharing.
+ Oversee project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure on-time and within-scope execution.
+ Conduct quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) reviews of plans, reports, and permit packages.
+ Facilitate team meetings, pipeline reviews, and performance check-ins to align on goals and progress.
+ Stay current with industry trends, zoning regulations, and environmental compliance standards.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
+ Minimum 15 years of experience in land development, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
+ Proven experience managing permitting processes, zoning, and municipal coordination.
+ Strong knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and other relevant design software.
+ Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ PE license preferred.
+ Ability to balance multiple stakeholder needs and adapt to changing project demands.
+ Demonstrated success in developing talent and fostering team engagement.
+ Commitment to sustainable and compliant design practices.
+ Strong business development skills, including experience building and maintaining client relationships and an understanding of consulting services business.
Work Environment
This role is primarily office-based, but offers a hybrid work environment where 2-3 days per week can be worked from home. The company is a 300-person firm that is committed to growth and investment, delivering quality work that results in repeat business and attracting new customers. The firm offers an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) issued annually.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $140000.00/yr.
