Job Title: Machine Operator
Job Description
As a Machine Operator, you will prepare and stage materials for production and compounding, perform machine setups to specifications, and adjust HMI settings. You will interpret batch schedules to correctly label production packaging, start machines, and set controls according to the process sheet. The role involves performing tooling changes, utilizing and properly reassembling tooling with basic hand tools, loading product and materials into machines, monitoring product flow and temperature, and modifying settings to ensure quality products.
Responsibilities
+ Prepare and stage materials for production and compounding.
+ Perform machine setups to specifications and adjust HMI settings.
+ Interpret batch schedules for correct labeling of production packaging.
+ Start machines and set controls according to process sheets.
+ Perform tooling changes and utilize tooling properly with basic hand tools.
+ Load product and materials into machines while monitoring product flow and temperature.
+ Modify machine settings to ensure quality products.
+ Manually push, pull, or move up to 50lbs throughout the shift.
+ Operate sit-down, stand-up forklifts, and electric hand trucks to move materials and finished products.
+ Examine and sample extruded products for defects and provide samples to the lab for testing.
+ Perform material handling operations including packaging, shipping, and receiving.
+ Clean machines, including running cleaning cycles and removing excess materials.
+ Perform operations of packaging equipment and palletizing systems.
+ Assist as needed in various production tasks.
+ Utilize proper tools for job tasks.
+ Collect data on the production area.
+ Bend, stoop, and lift products, tools, and other items as necessary.
Essential Skills
+ Forklift operation (stand-up and sit-down).
+ Machine operation, including extrusion and injection molding.
+ Experience in machine setup and preventive maintenance.
+ Ability to perform manual labor, such as bending, stooping, and lifting.
+ HMI knowledge for production machinery.
+ Good eye-to-hand coordination.
+ Ability to lift a minimum of 60 lbs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ 2+ years of experience in machine operations, preferably in extrusion, injection, blow mold, packaging, or compounding.
+ Strong attention to detail.
+ Ability to wear required safety equipment.
+ Ability to climb ladders and stairs.

Work Environment
This position is on the 3rd shift, working from 10:45 pm to 7:00 am, Monday through Friday, with potential overtime required on weekends. Training occurs on the day shift for 2-4 weeks. Employees work 45-48 hours per week currently. The company manufactures medical-grade rubber and plastic hoses, with staging and compounding areas being non-temperature controlled, experiencing high heat in summer and cooler temperatures in winter. The dress code requires the removal of all jewelry, tied-up hair if long, steel-toed footwear, long pants or jeans, and hearing and eye protection. Some areas require N95 masks for safety during specific tasks. Teams are smaller, with workstations raised on platforms accessible by stairs.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brownsville, Tennessee.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $22.00/hr.
