Job Description
The Food Services Worker plays a crucial role in assembling and customizing patient meal trays, ensuring that dietary selections and orders are accurately reflected. This position involves working in a refrigerated environment to prepare meal trays before delivery to patient care units.
Responsibilities
+ Assemble tray carts for patient lunch and dinner utilizing patient selections and diet orders.
+ Customize patient meal trays with requested drinks, desserts, and rolls.
+ Set up patient food service stations for breakfast according to tally sheets or established par levels.
+ Assist in the assembly of patient breakfast trays.
+ Deliver meal trays and snacks to patients on assigned units, replacing missing items and offering alternatives.
+ Refill beverages and condiments from hospitality carts and inform unit-nursing staff of refused or missing trays.
+ Document food and liquid intake for selected patients.
+ Retrieve meal trays from patients' rooms, ensuring no personal items are left behind.
+ Strip food carts and breakfast trays, sort and rinse dishes and silverware in preparation for washing.
+ Assist in the washing of breakfast dishes and trays.
+ Deliver menus to patients, explain the menu process, and assist with menu selections.
+ Recommend or offer alternative selections for patients not choosing from the menu.
+ Ensure every patient has been contacted by completing the host round sheet.
+ Return completed menus and host round sheets to the Hospitality Service Office.
+ Check with the Hospitality Service Office for new admissions or diet changes and take menus and diet awareness cards to patients.
+ Complete requests for NOW trays, discharged trays, guest trays, and isolation trays, securing nursing staff sign-off prior to delivery.
+ Inventory and stock the hospitality cart or basket and deliver bulk nourishments as requested.
+ Provide clerical support to the Hospitality Service Office, including answering phones and following up on requests.
+ Produce standard computer reports, including meal tallies, diet orders, nourishment labels, patient meal tray tickets, and menus.
+ Enter patient selections and special food preferences for therapeutic diets.
+ Attend and assist in departmental in-services.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in food preparation and food service.
+ Volume cooking experience.
+ Strong customer service skills.
+ Experience with recipes, measuring, and cutting.
+ Line cook experience.

+ Experience in food prep and food service.

Work Environment
The position is located in a hospital's Nutritional Services department. Shift hours are from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM, with schedules released every two weeks. Weekend availability is required, with no exceptions.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Washington, District of Columbia.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
