The anticipated salary range for this role is between $182,000.00 and $235,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Credit Risk Officer at the Executive Director level will play a pivotal role in managing the bank's credit portfolio, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting the Chief Credit Officer in strategic decision-making. This position involves evaluating credit applications, monitoring existing accounts, and implementing credit policies to mitigate risk and promote the bank's financial stability.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Credit Evaluation: Assess the creditworthiness of potential borrowers through detailed financial analysis and background checks.
+ Policy Implementation: Develop and enforce credit policies and procedures to manage risk and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
+ Account Monitoring: Regularly review and monitor existing customer accounts to ensure ongoing creditworthiness and adherence to the bank's policies.
+ Risk Assessment & Management: Conduct risk assessments to determine the viability of extending credit to new and existing customers. Monitor and manage credit risk by analyzing customer and portfolio credit profiles coupled with market conditions.
+ Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all credit processes comply with current regulatory laws and industry standards.
+ Reporting: Prepare and submit periodic reports to the Chief Credit Officer and senior management, detailing the status of loans, key metrics and trends of portfolios covered, including amounts approved, unpaid, and steps taken to collect payments from delinquent accounts.
+ Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including Relationship Management, 1st Line Underwriting Division, and risk management, to support the bank's strategic goals.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
+ Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in Finance or equivalent
+ Minimum of 15 years of experience in credit administration or a related role within a commercial bank.
+ Proven track record in credit risk management and regulatory compliance.
+ Extensive experience in developing and implementing credit policies and procedures.
+ Strong leadership and team management skills.
+ Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
+ Proficiency in financial analysis software and Microsoft Office Suite.
+ Preferred Qualifications:
+ Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) or professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA).
+ Experience with loan management systems and credit scoring models.
+ Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale projects and initiatives.
+ Strong network within the banking and financial services industry.
+ Experience in strategic planning and execution at a senior management level.
