The College of Music at the University of Colorado Boulder is hiring an Interim Assistant Director of Bands. This is a full-time, Assistant Teaching Professor position with a faculty director appointment. The initial contract will commence August 14, 2025, and end May 3, 2026, with the possibility of a renewal or extension as needed.

Who We Are
The College of Music, founded in 1920, is recognized as one of the top comprehensive music schools in the country. The College of Music offers seven degree programs in over 28 fields of study, at the bachelor's level through the doctorate. Our dedicated and encouraging community of 550 degree-seeking students, 70 full-time faculty, 30 part-time faculty, and 30 professional, technical and administrative staff produces over 350 performances and numerous guest lectures, master-classes, and outreach events each year. The CU Boulder band program provides various performance opportunities for students, whatever their level or major field of study. Ensembles include the Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Campus Band, Golden Buffalo Marching Band, and the Buff Basketball Band.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
The Interim Assistant Director of Bands serves as the assistant director of the Golden Buffalo Marching Band and directs the pep bands for basketball/volleyball. In addition, the Interim Assistant Director of Bands teaches marching band techniques, conducts Concert Band, and provides student teacher supervision.
What We Can Offer
The interim role will come with a base assistant teaching professor salary of $55,000 and an additional 20% faculty director stipend. Onboarding assistance is available per department guidelines.

What We Require
Applicant must have a Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Music Education and/or Conducting, and a DMA in Wind Conducting. At least one year prior experience serving as a Graduate Teaching Assistant with responsibilities that included conducting for concert and athletic bands.
