    Position Overview

    The Mechanical Assembly Technician III is responsible for leading the assembly of complex mechanical and fluid systems for high-precision prototype machines. This role includes moderate design work, including component mounting decisions and utility routing. The Mechanical Assembly Technician III will also estimate and refine time and cost projections for tasks, while mentoring and training the level I Technicians .

    Key Responsibilities

    Lead the assembly of complex mechanical and fluid systems for high-precision prototype machines, ensuring quality and precision throughout the process.

     

    Perform moderate design tasks, including component mounting decisions and utility routing based on system requirements.

     

    Estimate time and cost projections for tasks, refining projections and optimizing processes with minimal supervision.

     

    Document and provide feedback on process improvements to enhance assembly efficiency and quality.

     

    Train and mentor junior technicians, providing guidance on technical tasks and troubleshooting.

     

    Ensure compliance with safety standards and operational procedures during assembly.

     

    Collaborate with engineering and other departments to ensure systems are assembled according to specifications and design changes are effectively implemented.

    Qualifications

    Associate degree in a technical field preferred, with at least 5 years of experience in mechanical assembly or a related field.

     

    Proven experience in taking on moderate design work and working independently on complex projects.

     

    Demonstrated ability to lead and guide teams while ensuring high standards of assembly and system integration.

    Skills & Requirements:

    Advanced proficiency in measuring and inspection tools, geometric tolerances, and manual machining techniques (e.g., milling, turning).

     

    Skilled in CAD software for minor design tasks and modifications, with the ability to make adjustments based on assembly requirements.

     

    Strong understanding of system controls (e.g., FANUC, Mitsubishi, Siemens) for integration with mechanical systems.

     

    In-depth knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and their applications in machine systems.

     

    Proficient in troubleshooting complex mechanical and fluid systems.

     

    Excellent communication skills to mentor, provide feedback, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

    Physical Requirements:

    Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including standing for extended periods.

     

    Ability to lift up to 30lbs and work with tools and machinery safely.

     

    Compensation and Benefits

     

    Pay Range: $26.00-$29.00
