    Introduction to BlueOval SK

     

    At BlueOval SK, we will lead the transformation of the electric vehicle (EV) battery business through partnership (Joint Venture formed by Ford Motor Company and SK On) to provide products and processes to increase our customers’ experience. As the future of BlueOval SK, you will help lead the battery revolution by working alongside our teams as we build the batteries required for electric vehicle business excellence.

     

    Ford and SK On are investing billions in Kentucky and Tennessee including building three state-of-the art battery manufacturing facilities between the two campuses at BlueOval City in Tennessee and BlueOval SK Battery Park in Kentucky. These brand-new advanced manufacturing facilities will use Ford’s 100-years of automobile manufacturing expertise and SK On’s 30+ years of electric vehicle battery expertise to become the world’s best battery manufacturer.

     

    The 3PL Warehouse Analyst for BlueOval SK Battery Plants in Elizabethtown, Kentucky and Stanton, Tennessee will have a unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a key member of the start-up team, launching the facility from the ground up.

    Positional Duties

    + Material flow subject matter expert with focus on packaging to automation interface.

    + Material flow analysis addressing process and physical geometry changes.

    + Subject matter expert with focus on material replenishment and on marketplace adherence and replenishment.

    + Evaluate all incoming packaging for safety, functionality, EPA/Landfill impact, logistics/recycle/disposal cost optimization and alignment with operational expectations.

    + Troubleshoot new and existing packaging problems involving designs, materials and processes and provide creative, timely, and cost-effective solutions.

    + Analyze engineering drawings and specifications of products to determine physical characteristics of item, special handling, environmental and safety requirements, and types of materials required for packaging.

    + Establish standards and guidelines for supplier evaluation. Evaluate and select packaging suppliers/vendors; periodically conduct vendor reviews.

    + Work closely with global suppliers, engineering, product management, operations, and sourcing.

    + Participate in product introduction teams, to deliver new products to market.

    + Identify and implement cost saving initiatives related to packaging materials, labor, efficiency, transportation, and storage.

    + Work closely with Engineering to optimize packaging supply base for cost, lead time, quality, regionalization, standardization, supply assurance, and compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements.

    + Work with MP&L logistics counterparts to optimize packaging for maximum space maximization thereby driving cost improvement.

    + Specify and recommend efficiency tools and test methods to develop and validate packaging designs.

    + Work with the manufacturing department to insure that the packaging designs are optimized for manufacturability.

    + Develop and implement comprehensive test plans to ensure that packaging exceeds customer specifications.

    + Work with cross-functional teams to ensure an environment of constant process improvement.

    Required Minimum Qualifications

    + Bachelor's degree or greater in packaging engineering or general engineering with an emphasis on packaging engineering

    + Strong ability to interface with plant personnel, salaried personnel, and plant management

    + Strong ability to present in front of plant leadership

    + Ability to teach packaging engineering principles

    + Competent in the use of data for decision making

    + Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

    + Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to resolve diverse problems

    Preferred Minimum Qualifications

    + 3+ years of practical experience in packaging engineering preferred

    + Ability to navigate easily within CAD or similar software preferred

    + Experience with and knowledge of lean manufacturing preferred

     

    Additional Information

     

    This job will support facilities in Kentucky and Tennessee. Travel is required and expected to be 50% and settling at 30% in future years. Relocation to western Tennessee is required.
