Responsibilities
1. Report to front line leadership
2. Work as a team member to obtain plant & departmental goals
3. Develop & implement training programs for operators & process personnel within injection molding.
4. Establish, document and implement optimum processes using design of experiment and capability studies to improve productivity and reduce scrap.
5. Assist Quality in sampling new resins / color.
6. Assist in new product & process developments.
7. Troubleshoot new tooling and debug molds.
8. Continuously review set-ups and production runs to ensure efficient productivity.
9. Ensure that production jobs are running to appropriate cycle specifications for maximum yields.
10. Analyze molding defects to determine the root cause and initiates material, machine, process, or tooling remedies
11. Recommends tooling and/or machine improvements for mold repairs, processes, yields, scrap, waste, etc
12. Responds to alarms and takes corrective action involving quality issues, processing, and/or minor machine, mold, and auxiliary equipment repairs.
13. Effectively communicate with the shift personnel in regard to part quality, equipment, special instructions, corrective action and productivity
14. Responsible for assisting in the improvement of all production cells set-ups, including process, cycles, scrap reduction or any areas that lead to improved efficiencies.
15. Communicates with other process technicians, shift supervisors and all technical employees on technical issues.
16. Provide technical assistance in maintaining expected levels of productivity in order to fulfill scheduling and quality requirements.
17. Maintains detailed information within the current reporting formats, on statistics, processes and procedures.
18. Assists other technical personnel in the trouble-shooting process for cost effective solutions.
19. Checks tooling, machines and auxiliary equipment to identify issues and provides work orders to appropriate support departments.
20. Complies with government regulations in adherence of EPA, MSDS, Lock/Out-Tag/Out and all other proper safety standards.
21. Trains and mentors other process technicians in on-the-job mold and process routines.
22. Updates and maintains any and all documentation or procedure when changes occur.
23. Keeps current on new technology and developments in regards to areas of responsibility, as time allows.
24. Actively participate in production floor improvements.
25. Perform housekeeping duties as needed or assigned
26. Maintain lot control traceability
27. Control of non-conforming product
28. Manage scrap identification & flow within production
29. Uphold Safety Absolutes
30. Work and perform to ISO Standards, SOPs and established Work Instructions.
31. Uphold Quality Standards and follow the Absolutes.
32. Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
• Capable of physical mobility including sitting, bending, twisting, standing, and lifting.
• Capable of reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Capable of operating a forklift in a safe and cautious manner, certified.
• Some computer experience
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Ability to problem solve, interpret instructions in numerous formats
• Basic math skills with the ability to use rulers, micrometers, calipers & other measuring devices
• Capable of lifting up to 35lbs periodically.
• Capable of complying with all Safety requirements including the use of PPE: PPE includes but is not limited to Bump Cap or Hard Hat, Safety Eyewear or Prescription Safety Eyewear, Safety Shoes, Hearing Protection and Disposable Mask.
• Capable of maintaining an attendance record within Company guidelines and working required overtime.
• B.S degree in chemical or plastics engineering plus 5 years of hands on experience in the operation/set-up of computer programmable plastic injection molding machines. And a minimum of 3 years hands on processing.
• Working knowledge of molding theory preferred & experience with SPC, molding to tight tolerances
• Negative drug screen results.
• Work in a safe manner
• Ability to interpret work orders.
