Summary You will serve as an IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN/INFOSEC) in the Waterfront Field Support (10942), Waterfront & Productions Information Technology (IT) Support Division (1094), Information Technology & Cybersecurity (ITACS) Office (109) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will be responsible for analyzing, diagnosing, and correcting recurring and emergency problems and faults in order to restore normal operations. You will monitor and analyze applicable hardware and software resources and logs for issues to recommend and implement solutions that correct and improve conditions and optimize efficiency of the system. You will perform maintenance and enhancements of information systems security programs, databases, and develop and implement programs through data plans and analysis. You will ensure the secured network is in compliance with applicable IA policies and regulations regarding systems and network security, and that protection is commensurate with the assigned NIST IA Level. You will implement required lifecycle maintenance for hardware and software within the Branch’s area of responsibility. You will develop and document Standard Operating Procedures for cognizant area of responsibility, storage devices, and backup devices. You will develop and implement procedures and guidelines to govern quality control and assurance of IT production operations. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1. Experience in Storage Architecture and skill in implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of storage systems. Maintain databases and web technologies, including Microsoft SQL Server and Internet Information Services (IIS). Knowledge of CITRIX and Red Hat UNIX, including command line input. 2. Experience with Virtual Servers and Workstation software / hardware infrastructure such as VMWARE ESX, Windows Hyper-V, or VMWARE VDI. The ability to use the latest Windows Active Directory Infrastructure, including Group Policy administration, Enterprise Domain maintenance and DNS maintenance. A clear understanding of Microsoft Windows environments, workstations, and Windows servers. Proficiency in use of Windows PowerShell for Active Directory and server maintenance. 3. Experience with the latest enterprise level Backup Software technologies, such as Backup Exec or Symantec NetBackup. Extensive knowledge of and competence in various troubleshooting methods using structured analysis principles for analyzing and diagnosing miscellaneous equipment problems. Knowledge and understanding of all IT related services and functions for the shipyard and the principles and methods for integrating hardware and software system components. 4. Experience communicating effectively both orally and in writing; possess excellent analytical skills and has the ability to interface effectively with senior management and diverse user groups to include oral/ visual presentations. Experience with providing advice and guidance on a wide range and variety of complex IT issues; interpreting and applying IT policies, standards, and guidelines.
