Summary You will serve as a SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH DIV, COMPLIANCE & QUALITY DEPT of FLTREADCEN SOUTHEAST. Responsibilities You will adapt analytical techniques and evaluation criteria to the measurement and improvement of safety program effectives or organizational productivity. You will conduct investigations and inspections of ionizing radiation (x-ray vaults) and non-ionizing radiation to evaluate if corrective measures are required. You will review investigations to determine the root cause and determining factors. You will resolve technical matters dealing with occupational safety and health requirements using safety and occupational health laws, regulations, principles, theories, practices, and procedures. You will evaluate a broad range of work processes, equipment operations, and protective devices to minimize injuries. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying principles, methods, tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, monitoring, evaluating, and managing projects and resources, including technical performance for major safety programs (Radiation Safety Officer). 2) Applying quantitative and qualitative methods, measurement, fact finding, and investigative techniques to provide line managers with objectively based information for making decisions. 3) Incorporating knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods pertaining to the protection of people, their environment, and equipment from ionizing and non-ionizing radiation hazards and the control of radioactive material. 4) Utilizing knowledge of guidelines, regulations, and procedures associated with accident investigation, including preservation of the accident scene, root cause analysis, and evidence detection and handling. 5) Applying knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods to identify, control, mitigate, and eliminate safety hazards or minimize safety risk in the design and use of facilities, equipment, operations. 6) Identifying and analyzing problems, weighing relevance and accuracy of information, while evaluating alternative perspectives/solutions; making timely/effective recommendations, based on potential implications of findings or conclusions.
