    We are seeking a Electric System Engineer to join our driven team. This is a amazing opportunity to work with a company/team that develops and supports an array of outstanding health sciences research programs.

     

    Pay: 30-36/hr

     

    Chapel Hill, NC

     

    Contract: 12 months

    Job Description

    + Possess a strong understanding of electrical protection principles for utility electrical systems operating at 12 kV or higher. Familiarity with Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) relays is preferred.

    + Capable of reading and interpreting engineering drawings.

    + Willingness and ability to quickly learn new concepts, particularly within the electric power field.

    + Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks effectively and meet project deadlines.

    + Proven experience collaborating on projects in various campus environments and working with diverse groups of professionals.

    + Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to use these tools to develop clear reports and impactful presentations.

     

    Education and Experience Requirements

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline relevant to the assigned role, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

    + All degrees must be from accredited institutions.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Experience working with utility electrical systems.

    + Successful completion of the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and possession of Engineer-in-Training (EIT) credentials.

    + Prior experience with underground electrical systems, particularly in a municipal setting, is highly desirable.This job description is a complete list of all desired skills, but not all are required.
