Job Summary

The Industrial Hygienist job family consists of three positions: Industrial Hygienist, Senior Industrial Hygienist, and Industrial Hygienist Principal. When successful candidates are hired into NiSource, their education, experience, capability and professional certifications will dictate their position level. The Industrial Hygienist supports NiSource gas and electric operations in the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of workplace environmental factors that may cause sickness, impaired health and wellbeing, or significant discomfort among workers.

Essential Functions

+ Assist with or conduct health and industrial hygiene surveys/sampling and implement or recommend control measures to minimize or eliminate exposures.

+ Research industrial hygiene issues to support company program execution.

+ Provide guidance and expertise in the development and implementation of a comprehensive industrial hygiene program relating to potentially hazardous work environments.

+ Coordinate development of and prepare guidelines, procedures, manuals, and training programs to assist in complying with federal and state laws and company policies.

+ Track, evaluate, and report operational performance and compliance related to industrial hygiene.

+ Provide technical assistance and guidance to operational leadership and occupational safety staff.

+ Apply industrial hygiene principles into complex problems using modeling, data and other methods to reduce risk of injury and illness.

+ Maintain membership in professional associations related to specialty.

Required Qualifications For Position

+ Bachelor's Degree in occupational health, safety, or a related scientific or technical field, such as engineering, biology, industrial hygiene or chemistry; or equivalent experience

+ Equivalent education and/or experience.

+ A minimum of five years of increasingly responsible professional and technical experience in industrial hygiene

+ Equivalent experience in chemistry, biology, toxicology, engineering, or environmental health, and demonstrated industrial hygiene competence.

+ Knowledge of ANSI standards, OSHA & EPA regulations, applicable local and state occupational and environmental health regulations

+ Strong written and oral communication skills.

+ Must be able to apply this knowledge through procedures and policies corporate-wide.

+ Overnight travel may be required (up to 20%)​

+ DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State

Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position

+ Master's degree in occupational health, safety, or a related scientific or technical field

+ Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)

Industrial Hygienist Salary Range: 79,800- 119,600

Sr. Industrial Hygienist Salary Range: 93,800- 140,700

Industrial Hygienist Principal Salary Range: 110,200- 165,300

Salary Range*:

$79,800.00 - $165,300.00
