    Department Summary:

    MITRE is seeking an experienced analyst to join our Market Intelligence & Research Department within the Strategic Finance Office of the Chief Financial Officer. The Senior Market and Competitive Intelligence Analyst role involves consolidating multiple sources of information into the most substantial findings and presenting those conclusions, often as written reports, presentations, and in-person briefings. This role requires an individual that is comfortable with gathering and synthesizing data, as well as applying strategic and analytical thinking. The ideal candidate will view themselves as a strategist and generalist who is willing to creatively investigate and pursue emergent challenges for senior leadership and a diverse set of internal and external customers. This role will adapt existing solutions and models to new problems, and generate new ideas, solutions, tools, and recommendations.

     

    Target analyses include competitive landscaping & profiling, deep market analysis & modeling, and other insights support that enables effective decision-making. The work includes engaging with internal partners and leaders to scope and prioritize tasks, reviewing and augmenting large datasets to perform data-driven analyses, conducting qualitative and quantitative market analysis, investigating relevant policies and regulations, determining direction based on limited concrete data, understanding the current federal budgetary, contracting, and R&D environment, and performing additional research and analysis as necessary.

     

    This position will interact with all levels of the company, including senior level managers, technical SMEs, and analysts. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience performing primary and secondary market analysis on government and industry trends and market participants, an entrepreneurial approach to generating and creating value and impact, and an appreciation for a nonprofit/public interest environment.

    Roles & Responsibilities:

    + Work as part of a dynamic team environment where tasks are rarely routine and often require novel approaches

    + Identifying sources of information and gather a wide range of quantitative and qualitative data to support decisions that have implications for MITRE and its government agency sponsors

    + Organize, analyze, and synthesize data into consumable and action-oriented key findings and recommendations

    + Apply analysis and strategic thinking skills, including exploratory data analysis of the federal funding environment, assessment and analysis of policy investment and sponsor engagement

    + Provide insights and consulting expertise to a range of stakeholders on the state of the government contractor landscape, the federal R&D landscape, emerging market opportunities, and relevant market trends.

    + Develop data visualizations, dashboards, and reports that improve the presentation of complex data sets

    + Create data baselines for competitive intelligence, market intelligence, landscape analysis and monitoring

    + Translate unstructured data and nontraditional sources of information into business insights

    + Work with developers to, where applicable, automate data pulls, enhance internal business systems, and conduct other activities to enable efficient operations

    + Work with cross-functional data architecture and support roles to enhance data automation and visualizations

    Basic Qualifications:

    + Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience

    + 5+ years of related experience in domains such as market intelligence, business development, competitive intelligence and/or market research & analysis

    + Detailed understanding of U.S. government funding data sources and experience with/knowledge of the government contracting market.

    + Experience analyzing or deriving insights from federal spending and appropriations data such as agency budgets, spending documents, or federal procurement data sources.

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated skills and experience in presenting analytical results

    + Experience with data analysis and visualization tools

    + Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities

    + Functional knowledge in areas of strategy or business development

    + Proficient with data tools – Tableau, Excel, basic Python, basic SQL

    + This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Master’s in Business Administration or another related field

    + Experience in government contracting, consulting, Capitol Hill, and/or in an environment monitoring federal contracts and/or appropriations

    + Expertise in using specific tools to support data such as Tableau or Python

    + Knowledge of the federal R&D environment and the role and value of federally-funded research and development centers

    + Business management, finance, or consulting experience
