The Quality Engineer is responsible for in-process and finished product quality investigations. Assists Technical manager in determining product disposition based on adherence to manufacturing specification (MS) and product quality specifications (PQS). Supports Technical Manager and Technical Marketing on customer complaint investigations. Responsible for working with pulp mill, machines, and finishing management for day to day follow-up on out of control / off target process parameters and also for recommending new processes that would result in improved product quality and customer satisfaction. Responsible for maintaining mill information KPI visual charts in the main lab. Covers daily flight plan meetings as required.
How You’ll shape the Future of the Technical Department:
+ Work with Marketing to determine proper disposition of pulp as directed by Technical Manager
+ Work to determine the most profitable outlets for off-specification and off grade pulp
+ Manage trial run authorization requests (TRAR) for the Mill
+ Works with Pulp Mill and Machines to drive operation towards run to target quality philosophy
+ Gather pertinent information needed and lead follow up investigation to respond to customer requests and complaints, as assigned by the Technical Manager
+ Monitors and follows up on gaps identified from mill information KPI visual charts in main lab leading to improved product quality
You’ll Be Someone Who Can Bring:
+ Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering, Pulp and Paper Engineering, or related technical field
+ Minimum of 1 year in chemical manufacturing environment, with pulp manufacturing experience preferred. Preferred experience would include combination of engineering, quality assurance, and operations with some supervisor experience.
+ Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc...)
