    Job Title: Junior Counselor (Seasonal)

    Duration: Summer 2025: June 30, 2025 – August 22, 2025

    Work Hours: Monday – Friday from 8:15am-3:15pm (additional hours as needed)

    (Applicants are required to be available for the entire 8-week camp season)

    About the Position:

    The Township of Plainsboro is seeking a dynamic and experienced Junior Counselor who would be

    responsible for the safety and well-being of an assigned group of campers; assisting Senior Counselors and

    Specialty Teachers during scheduled activities.

     

    For the Junior Counselor, the first 6 weeks of camp will include aquatics, where Junior Counselors are

    expected to swim with their group of campers (one end of the pool is shallow enough to stand in at the

    minimum). Junior Counselors will be responsible for the supervision of their assigned group of campers

    during off-site field trips, including while on the bus and in transit to and from the camp.

     

    The Junior Counselor works under the supervision of the Senior Counselor and reports to the Camp Director.

     

    Junior counselors must be 16 years or older by 6/1/25.

     

    Camp participant population for this position consists of children in grades 1-6.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience working with children in a group setting.

    • Ability to accept guidance and supervision.

    • Ability to assist in teaching/leading activities.

    • Enthusiasm, patience, and self-control.

    • Ability to adapt to the camp setting.

    • Prior camp experience.

    • Experienced swimmer (required)

    Desired Skills:

    • Experience with outdoor education and environmental programs.

    • Knowledge of child development and best practices in youth work.

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    • Passion for working with children and creating positive learning experiences.
