JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW
The AI Development Manager and Solution Architect leads technical teams through the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), from initial solution concept through deployment and ongoing support, while also designing and overseeing the architecture of custom AI, analytics, and data science solutions. This individual manages multiple concurrent projects, ensuring that solutions align strategically with business objectives, regulatory compliance, budget, timeline, and quality standards. They supervise teams comprising developers, data scientists, architects, and analysts, guiding agile practices and fostering team productivity, collaboration, and professional growth. The role requires deep expertise in integrating cloud-based technologies (e.g., Microsoft Azure AI related products), large language models (LLMs), AI frameworks, and custom-developed components into secure, scalable, and compliant solutions tailored for life sciences and healthcare clients. The AI Development Manager and Solution Architect ensures the effective use of technology stacks and modern containerization practices while collaborating closely with technical teams, stakeholders, and clients.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Evaluate, select, and integrate commercial and open-source technologies, including Microsoft Azure services, Python environments, and LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Perplexity, Meta).
+ Lead design sessions and technical workshops with client stakeholders to define solution requirements and architecture.
+ Document detailed architectural diagrams, technical specifications, and implementation plans.
+ Provide hands-on code development and configuration of all architectural components, services, and products.
+ Lead software development initiatives from requirements and design through development, testing, deployment, and support.
+ Architect robust AI and data-driven solutions leveraging industry-leading technologies.
+ Manage technical teams, including developers, data scientists, architects, and analysts.
+ Apply agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) for effective project planning, execution, and team coordination.
+ Provide ongoing architectural oversight throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with regulations (e.g., 21 CFR Part 11, HIPAA).
+ Establish and promote architectural best practices, standards, and governance models for AI and analytics development and deployment.
+ Collaborate with clients to understand their business goals, AI maturity, and develop tailored strategies and solution roadmaps.
+ Interface effectively with executives and stakeholders to communicate clearly about project scopes, progress, resource needs, and risks.
+ Track, control, and report on project scopes, budgets, risks, schedules, and overall quality.
+ Support business development efforts, including RFP responses, solution proposals, technical consultations, and client presentations.
+ Continuously evaluate emerging AI trends, tools, and platforms to maintain solution effectiveness and innovation.
+ Drive internal development of reusable frameworks, components, and accelerators for future projects.
+ Contribute actively to the firm's AI strategy, thought leadership initiatives, and knowledge-sharing activities.
+ Mentor team members, encourage a culture of innovation, and uphold high standards for engineering excellence.
+ Provide technical mentorship to development team members as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
+ 7+ years of experience in solution architecture and software development, including at least 2 years in a management or leadership role.
+ Prior experience in consulting, specifically in life sciences or healthcare environments; strongly preferred.
+ Proven track record of delivering complex projects in a client-facing or consulting capacity.
+ Demonstrated experience in regulatory compliance solutions and software used in life sciences (e.g., 21 CFR Part 11, HIPAA).
+ Advanced expertise in Microsoft’s technology stack (Azure, SharePoint, Co-Pilot), DevOps practices (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
+ Familiarity with AI orchestration platforms such as Azure Machine Learning, Databricks, and MLflow.
+ Deep understanding of AI/ML algorithms, frameworks, lifecycle management (MLOps), and software engineering best practices.
+ Proven experience managing software solutions and deployments in Microsoft Azure environments.
+ Competence in security best practices (Azure Security Center, Azure Key Vault).
+ Strong leadership, team management, and mentoring skills with proven ability to grow and develop team capabilities.
+ Excellent interpersonal, communication, client engagement, and consultative problem-solving skills.
+ Certifications or professional training in cloud technologies (Azure), AI/ML, or agile methodologies strongly preferred.
