    Job Summary

    The Scholarship Administrator & Academic Program Manager serves in a dual capacity for the Colleges and Schools of Liberal Arts and Sciences ( LAS ) at the University of Utah, which includes the College of Humanities, College of Science, College of Social and Behavioral Science, and the School for Cultural & Social Transformation. This position oversees scholarship programs while coordinating academic scheduling across multiple departments within these four colleges/schools. As an integral part of the LAS shared services initiative, this position supports student success through financial assistance management, contributes to effective academic programming, and enhances coordination in alignment with the University of Utah’s Impact 2030 strategic goals.

    Responsibilities

    Key Responsibilities

    _Scholarship Administration (50%)_

     

    + Administer scholarship programs across all four LAS colleges/schools, ensuring consistent processes while respecting each unit’s unique academic culture and mission

    + Coordinate selection committees and review processes, as needed, in collaboration with department chairs and college deans

    + Manage scholarship budgets and fund allocations in compliance with award decisions made by individual colleges/units, donor intentions, and University of Utah policies

    + Develop and maintain scholarship application platforms and review systems consistent with university standards

    + Partner with the University of Utah’s Financial Aid Office, University Advancement, and individual college departments

    + Create and implement efficient scholarship marketing, application, and awarding processes

    + Generate comprehensive reports on scholarship distribution, demographics, and outcomes for LAS leadership

    + Ensure compliance with institutional policies and applicable regulations

    + Serve as the primary point of contact for scholarship-related inquiries from students, faculty, and staff

     

    _Academic Program Management (50%)_

     

    + Coordinate academic course scheduling across departments within the four LAS colleges/schools

    + Collaborate with department chairs, college schedulers, and the University Registrar to optimize classroom utilization and avoid scheduling conflicts

    + Monitor enrollment patterns and work with academic departments to adjust course offerings based on student demand

    + Maintain accurate course information in university systems, including CIS and Canvas

    + Create reports and visualizations of scheduling data to inform strategic planning

    + Coordinate with the University’s space management team to ensure appropriate classroom assignments

    + Support department chairs and deans with academic program assessment and improvement

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).

     

    Four to six years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of hiring department’s area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department. Master’s degree in a related area may be preferred.
