The director will lead strategy and execution of Data Management, Governance, and Master Data Management (MDM).
Job Description
The Global Data Governance Director will be responsible for Data Governance, Quality Management and Policies, Master Data Management for Property and Client Data Domains, Management of Internal and External Data Sets and Vendor Relationship Management for Third-Party Data Subscriptions for Advisory products and services.
Position Overview
The Global Director of Data Management, Governance, and Master Data Management (MDM) will operate at the intersection of business and technology, responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive data governance strategy. This role ensures adherence to data governance frameworks, policies, and standards, and oversees the management and quality of data assets across the organization. The director will lead the Global Data Governance Center of Excellence (COE) and serve as the primary point of contact for data management, quality, and governance.
Individual Experience
The individual will provide proven experience in data governance leadership role:
+ Ideally within a Real Estate, Professional Services or Client Marketing Organization with a strong understanding of Property and Client Data Domains, Data Privacy, Regulatory Requirements, and Governance Frameworks
+ Demonstrated success in transforming data governance processes to enable agile, technology-driven ways of working.
+ Excellent leadership, communication, and customer engagement skills, with a focus on building effective business and cross-functional relationships.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with dedication to driving operational efficiencies and compliance.
Position Responsibilities
Data Governance, Quality Management and Policies
+ **Data Governance Strategy & Framework:**
+ Develop and implement a data governance strategy aligned with the organization's data strategy.
+ Establish a data governance operating model and governance structure to support business needs and priorities.
+ Define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure accountability for data stewardship and master data assets.
+ **Data Quality & Compliance:**
+ Lead data quality management initiatives to improve data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and timeliness.
+ Ensure compliance with data protection laws and internal policies.
+ Implement robust metadata management practices to enhance data discovery, understanding, and utilization.
+ **Policy & Procedure Development:**
+ Create and enforce policies and procedures for data governance, including data classification, quality requirements, privacy, security, and retention.
+ Document and maintain the data governance COE framework, including data practices, processes, policies, and standards.
+ **Leadership & Collaboration:**
+ Manage a team of Data Stewards and collaborate with business units, IT, security, and legal teams to ensure data governance practices are integrated across the organization.
+ Develop effective communication and training programs to enhance data literacy and compliance.
+ Partner with Product and Data Architects to implement data governance, security, and privacy frameworks.
+ **Monitoring & Reporting:**
+ Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess the effectiveness of data governance initiatives.
+ Provide regular reports on data governance progress, including data quality scores, compliance levels, and user satisfaction.
Master Data Management for Property and Client Data Domains:
+ **MDM Strategy & Implementation:**
+ Develop and implement a master data management strategy for property and client data domains, ensuring alignment with the overall data strategy.
+ Establish processes for the creation, maintenance, and governance of master data to ensure data consistency, accuracy, and reliability across the organization.
+ **Data Quality & Standardization:**
+ Implement data quality management practices specific to property and client data, including data profiling, cleansing, validation, and monitoring.
+ Standardize data definitions, attributes, and hierarchies for property and client data to ensure uniformity and ease of use across business functions.
+ **Data Integration & Interoperability:**
+ Ensure seamless integration of property and client master data across various systems and platforms, enabling efficient data sharing and interoperability.
+ Collaborate with IT and data teams to design and implement data integration solutions that support business processes and decision-making.
+ **Governance & Compliance:**
+ Develop and enforce policies and procedures for the governance of property and client master data, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
+ Monitor and audit data practices to ensure adherence to governance policies and address any data quality issues promptly.
+ **Stakeholder Engagement & Training:**
+ Engage with key stakeholders to understand their data needs and ensure the master data management strategy supports business objectives.
+ Provide training and support to data stewards and business users to enhance their understanding and effective use of master data.
Management of Internal and External Data Sets:
+ **Internal Data Management:**
+ Oversee the management of internal data sets generated from company operations, including sales, customer service, and production data.
+ Ensure internal data is accurate, consistent, and accessible for analysis and decision-making.
+ Implement processes for data collection, storage, and maintenance to support business objectives.
+ **External Data Management:**
+ Manage external data sets sourced from clients, partners, competitors, and industry reports.
+ Ensure external data is integrated effectively with internal data to provide a comprehensive view of the market and industry trends.
+ Collaborate with external data providers to ensure data quality and relevance.
Vendor Relationship Management for Third-Party Data Subscriptions and Providers:
+ **Vendor Management Strategy:**
+ Develop and implement a vendor management strategy for third-party data subscriptions and providers.
+ Establish criteria for selecting and evaluating data vendors to ensure alignment with organizational goals and data governance standards.
+ **Contract Negotiation & Management:**
+ Negotiate contracts with data vendors to secure favorable terms and ensure compliance with data governance policies.
+ Manage vendor relationships to ensure timely delivery of data services and address any issues or concerns.
+ **Performance Monitoring & Reporting:**
+ Monitor vendor performance to ensure data quality, reliability, and compliance with contractual agreements.
+ Provide regular reports on vendor performance and data subscription usage to stakeholders.
+ **Risk Management:**
+ Identify and mitigate risks associated with third-party data subscriptions and providers.
+ Ensure vendors adhere to data security and privacy regulations to protect sensitive information.
Skills and Experience Required
+ Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information/Data Science, or a related field.
+ Minimum 10 years of experience in data management, governance, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
+ In-depth knowledge of data governance frameworks, data quality management, data privacy, and security regulations.
+ Proven ability to lead and manage a diverse, global team.
+ Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
+ Experience in developing and implementing data governance and master data management strategies.
Beneficial Experience
+ Experience within a real estate environment.
+ Technology experience with Salesforce CRM, Microsoft Azure as a Data Platform, Microsoft Purview for Data Governance, and Profisee MDM tool or equivalent.
