    The CoCOS (CollaborativeCommunityOptimizingSurvivorship) Lab (https://med.stanford.edu/cocos-lab.html), within the Department of Pediatrics and Division of Hematology, Oncology, Stem Cell Transplantation & Regenerative Medicine, utilizes community-engagedresearch to improve equitablehealth outcomes for childhood cancer survivors and their families. Central tothis work is our community–academic partnership with Jacob’s Heart Children’s Cancer Support Services (https://www.jacobsheart.org/), a community-based nonprofit organization supportingfamilies ofchildren with cancer in a4-county, predominantlyruralandmajorityHispanic/Latinoregion in theSalinasValley(regionincludesSantaCruz,Monterey, SanBenito,andsouthSantaClaracounties). Ourresearchisinspiredby design thinking (a method of creative problem solving) and guided bycommunity-based participatoryresearch principles with bidirectional trust and collaboration at every level.

     

    Our active grant-supportedresearch projects involve rigorous qualitative methods andapplyhuman-centered design principles to develop new programs (interventions, toolkits) that will be pilot tested and refined based on multistakeholder (community/academic)input,withtheoverallgoalofimprovingchildhoodcancer survivors’long-termhealthandengagementin recommended survivorship care.

     

    Stanford University, Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hematology, Oncology, Stem Cell Transplantation &Regenerative Medicine, is seeking a Research Professional (Social Science Research Professional 2) to contribute to our community-engaged researchprojectsfocusedon childhoodcancer survivorsandtheir families.ThisroleinvolvesworkingcloselywithJacob’sHeart Children’s Cancer Support Services, managing multiple grant-supported research initiatives, and providing guidance to less experienced colleagues, and requires independent initiative and judgment.

    Duties** **include:

    • Experiment Design&Contribution:Assistindesigningandcoordinatingexperimental protocolsfor multipleactive research projects utilizing community-based participatory research methods and behavioral intervention design, development, and pilot testing.

    • DataCollection&QualitativeDataAnalysis: Developdata collection instruments,leadinterviewsandfocusgroups,and analyze qualitative data using scientific methods and team-based software (e.g., Dedoose).

    • ProcedureDevelopment: Adaptandimplementnewproceduresfor studyoperations,includingconvening multidisciplinary advisory boards and designing intervention pilot tests.

    • Problem-Solving&Decision-Making:Addressresearch challengesandmakedecisionstotroubleshoot issues, collaborate on intervention materials, and manage multiple project timelines.

    • Research Publications:Co-author sectionsofacademicmanuscripts,preparefiguresandtables,andmaintainreferences. Develop infographics for participants/lay public. Lead written progress reports for research grants.

    • AdministrativeSupport:Managegrant-related incentivesandbudgetaryresponsibilities,scheduleadvisoryboardmeetings with stakeholders, and assist with meeting operations and note/record keeping.

    • Supervision&Training: Overseeandtrainstudents/traineesinqualitativeresearchmethodsandprovideguidanceon project work.

The pay range for this position working in the California Bay area is $81,130.00 to $94,895.00._
