Summary of Position
Chicken Salad Chick has an opportunity for a Staff Accountant to join the Finance Team. The team member will support expense accounting through ownership of rent related processes, import and payment of key vendor invoices, preparing monthly journal entries, and providing other AP assistance and analytical support to our growing brand. This individual will have the opportunity to create process improvement while interacting with various departments and levels of management across the business.
Duties & Responsibilities
+ Prepare monthly rent and CAM (“Common Area Maintenance”) payments, review corresponding entries, and reconcile prepaid balances each period.
+ Manage ASC 842 Lease accounting through utilization of LeaseQuery to maintain accurate lease schedules based on supporting lease agreements.
+ Perform vendor specific rent and CAM reconciliations to ensure any additional billings are appropriate and approved. Research and resolve landlord inquiries.
+ Import key vendor invoices and generate corresponding EFT payments on a weekly basis.
+ Maintain vendor master file and provide other control support to the AP department as necessary.
+ Assist in the review of the A/P subledger and coordinate with accounts payable to ensure proper approvals and accurate coding of vendor invoices.
+ Process autopayments in the general ledger based on bank statement.
+ Conduct periodic reconciliations of other financial accounts to ensure their accuracy including monthly reconciliations of vendor accounts.
+ Prepare manual journal entries during the monthly close process.
+ Assemble information for external auditors during the annual audit.
+ Any other duties, as assigned by the Assistant Controller, Controller, or management team.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field (CPA track a plus).
+ Recent graduate or up to two years of experience.
+ Solid understanding of bookkeeping and basic accounting principles.
+ Outstanding communication (written & verbal), presentation, time management, and organizational skills.
+ High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
+ Advanced knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft products.
+ Desire to investigate and solve problems.
+ Desire to learn and identify opportunities for continuous process improvement.
+ Positive attitude and professional demeanor.
