We are seeking an Associate Principal Clinical Research Scientist to join our Open Clinical Innovation Advanced Research Team in our state of the art Clark, New Jersey research facility (https://www.mycentraljersey.com/story/news/local/development/2025/02/28/loreal-opens-new-250000-square-foot-research-center-in-union-county/80689859007/) . As part of the R&I Advanced Research department, the Open Clinical Team within L'Oréal's R&I, Advanced Research department spearheads the exploration and development of cutting-edge clinical discoveries and innovations. Their mission is to bring to market new, highly effective technologies and active ingredients. This involves extensive collaboration with other L'Oréal Research & Innovation teams worldwide. The team actively searches for emerging technologies in cosmetic and health sciences, conducts proof-of-concept testing for both cosmetic ingredients and aesthetic devices, and collaborates closely with key research partners to translate these early-stage technologies into innovative products for consumers
As an Associate Principal Clinical Research Scientist in our Open Clinical Innovation Advanced Research team, your main responsibilities are:
+ Serve as a key team member to review scientific data and propose, design and execute innovative protocols for human efficacy clinical studies (cosmetic ingredients, consumer and medical devices and other new technologies)
+ Managing full process of clinical studies – concept presentation, IRB approval, study initiation, monitoring and e-monitoring, analyzing, reporting and presenting of results.
+ Identify and expand external partnerships and collaborations with CROs and establish new collaborations with leading Dermatologists and Academic Researchers
+ Maintaining strong relationships with internal and external partners (CROs/external vendors, global Advanced Research, Applied Research, Safety and Regulatory Affairs, Technology Incubators, and skin and hair care labs), and collaborate with other evaluation functions (Preclinical, clinical operations, data management, consumer claims, data privacy and bioinstrumentation teams) within global L’Oréal R&I (USA, France, Brazil, and Asia).
+ Augment our expertise in leveraging digital technologies, including AI, to enhance clinical imaging practices and protocols
To Succeed in this Position, You Have:
+ A completed Masters, MD or Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical or Cosmetic Sciences or related fields is required
+ 5-7 years (MD/PhD)/7-10 years (Masters) of experience managing Human Clinical Trials in pharmaceutical, OTC, or personal care industries is required
+ Knowledge of skin biology, hair biology, or dermatology preferred
+ Knowledge on dermatologist procedures, medical aesthetics, medical devices, skin pathology, or regenerative medicine preferred
+ Experience working with CROs preferred
+ Understanding of good clinical practices and FDA guidelines preferred
+ Working knowledge on methods of evaluation (instrumental and clinical) or diagnostic tools for evaluating product efficacy preferred
+ Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
+ Experience with data management & statistical analysis
+ A good knowledge of cosmetic actives and functions is a plus
+ Experience to navigate, problem-solve, execute, and lead in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with outstanding track record of strong communication, presentation, analytic and strategic capabilities and ability to effectively collaborate with medical experts
+ Availability for travel (~10%), both domestic and international
+ The ability to be onsite, in the office as this is an essential function of the position (required)
+ Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent, ongoing basis, without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.
