A Day in the Life
As a Director within the Packaging Qualification Lab, you will lead a team of packaging qualification engineers ensuring the timely and compliant qualification of all packaging materials. This role is crucial for ensuring product safety and quality, and you'll play a key part in driving efficiency and innovation within the Packaging department.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
+ Performs key tasks in Homologation, Compatibility, and Technical Approval projects
+ Guides/supports team members in processing, managing project timeline, emitting results and managing nonconformities for compatibility studies.
+ Guides/supports team members in performing homologation testing (dimensional / functional) according to DGO methods and managing nonconformities for homologation studies.
+ Guides/supports team members in performing testing to support technical approvals of new packaging.
+ Drives/guides/supports team members in the integration of simplification/risk analysis/root cause analysis in the key tasks.
+ Leads and participates in different transversal projects to evolve and bring value to the métier in terms of safety, quality, simplification, and agility / speed to market.
+ Participates in the leadership and management of the team helping to define, implement and drive the department strategy and organization.
+ Directly manages a métier team including compatibility and homologation qualification engineers.
+ Ensures the compliance with L’Oreal Quality Management Systems and Procedures and COMET.
+ Interacts with the Corporate Compatibility and Homologation community.
+ Respects the timing of the homologation/compatibility tests and notifies stakeholders if there is a risk of not reaching target dates.
+ Participates in risk analysis for compatibility and homologation.
+ Works on simplification processes for compatibility and homologation
+ Investigates and conducts root cause analysis and defines action plan for resolution of any non-conformities that threaten a product launch.
+ Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including marketing, operations, and DevPack, to ensure alignment and achieve shared goals. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates and insights on e-commerce performance
+ Leads and participates in transversal projects (safety, quality, equipment, organization, and agility / speed to market).
+ Fully adheres to the safety culture.
+ Fully participates in training/onboarding of newcomers.
+ Directly manages métier team members.
We Are Looking For:
The ideal candidate possesses a strong blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement. They are detail-oriented, possess excellent communication skills, and thrive in a collaborative environment. In addition:
+ A completed Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering or a related technical discipline is required.
+ Minimum 10+ years of experience in packaging engineering is required
+ Packaging Expertise: Deep understanding of packaging materials, transformation and industrialization processes.
+ Scientific Understanding: Knowledge of chemical and physical reactions relevant to packaging compatibility.
+ Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and effectively manage non-conformities.
+ Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences.
+ Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills, with experience in root cause analysis and implementing effective solutions.
+ The ability to be onsite, in the office, as this is an essential function of the position (required)
+ Authorization to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent, ongoing basis without the need for legal sponsorship now or in the future (required)
