    Caterpillar Inc. is currently hiring a **Senior Associate Engineer** to our Clayton, NC location. This position is a key contributor to the success of our Small Wheel Loader products, acting as a critical link between engineering, manufacturing, and customer-facing teams. You will provide comprehensive engineering support throughout the product lifecycle, from initial design phases to post-launch support. The successful candidate will work closely with Marketing to understand customer needs and translate them into technical requirements, collaborate with Product Support to resolve field issues, and partner with the factory to ensure manufacturability and efficient production.

    What You Will Do:

    + **Product Development & Design Support:**

    + Provide engineering expertise and support for new product introductions (NPI) and current product improvement (CPI) initiatives for Small Wheel Loaders.

    + Develop and refine designs, ensuring they meet performance, cost, reliability, and manufacturability targets.

    + **Cross-Functional Collaboration:**

    + Work closely with the Marketing team to gather customer feedback, understand market trends, and translate voice-of-customer (VOC) into actionable engineering specifications and design solutions.

    + Collaborate with Product Support to investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex field issues, implement corrective actions, and develop service bulletins or technical solutions.

    + Interface directly with the Factory (manufacturing and production teams) to ensure designs are optimized for efficient production, assembly, and quality. Address manufacturing challenges and implement design changes for continuous improvement.

    + **Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement:**

    + Perform analysis for design-related issues identified in production or the field.

    + Implement engineering changes and design updates to enhance product performance, reduce costs, or improve reliability.

    + Identify opportunities for process and product improvements based on data analysis and cross-functional input.

    What You Have (Basic Qualifications):

    + **Engineering Expertise:** Bachelor’s degree in Engineering **OR** related field with hands-on experience in product design, development, and lifecycle support.

    + **Analytical Thinking:** Demonstrated ability to proactively diagnose engineering problems using data-driven analysis and structured problem-solving techniques, showing initiative in identifying and addressing root causes before they escalate.

    + **Effective** Communication: Proven experience collaborating across cross-functional teams and clearly conveying technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

    **Top Candidates Will Have** :

    + Cross-functional collaboration experience, especially in translating customer feedback into engineering solutions and working with manufacturing teams to optimize design for production.

    + Background in design and product lifecycle management, with experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) or Current Product Improvement (CPI) initiatives.

    + Problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions for field and production issues.

    **Additional Info** :

    + **Office Model:** Caterpillar requires employees to work onsite in the office five days a week.

    + **Travel:** 5-10% domestic and international travel is expected.

    + **Relocation:** Domestic relocation is **not** available.

    + **ISE:** ISE assignments are **not** available.

    Summary Pay Range:

    $87,480.00 - $131,280.00

     

    Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
