    PeaceHealth is seeking a **Chaplain Lead - Hospice for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position.** The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $33.89 – $50.85. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

     

    _In addition to covering a territory in Washington, this position will devote time to leadership responsibilities, such as training other Chaplains, organizing meetings and helping with policy and procedures._

    Job Summary

    Responsible for coordinating the day-to-day functions for assigned area. Assists with ensuring departmental goals are achieved, timelines met, and service excellence provided in all aspects of work. Subject matter expert. Provides direct spiritual care for patients, family members, and PeaceHealth caregivers across the continuum of care. Demonstrates a spiritual presence to all people that is compassionate, accepting, respectful and sensitive. Promotes healing of mind, body, and spirit through direct care, leadership, and pastoral education. Works collaboratively with other professionals, faith community leaders, students, and community professionals.

    Essential Functions

    + Provides technical assistance. Oversees staff schedules, monitors team projects. Supports staff training including onboarding, for team.

    + Supports the programs, initiatives and ongoing department functions and goals as assigned.

    + Leads the team in providing spiritual care to patients and families for assigned areas and by referral and participation in interdisciplinary teams and other health care teams or service lines.

    + Offers holistic spiritual care and counsel to address the spiritual, emotional, and social, needs of patients, families, and health care teams.

    + Provides and documents spiritual assessments, pastoral plans, interventions, and consultations; requests follow up by other chaplains/disciplines as appropriate.

    + Assists others in ethical decision making, which may include Advance Care Planning, consistent with their values and belief system and in accordance with the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Healthcare Services (ERDs).

    + Facilitates theological reflection and assists others as they seek to make meaning during crisis and as they integrate their personal, spiritual and health journeys.

    + Based on desires of patient and/or family, works closely with faith community leaders to assure the spiritual needs of patients and/or families are met during hospitalization and appropriate referrals are made for post-discharge spiritual care.

    + Provides support, education, and consultation to members of health care teams as they seek personal and professional growth in becoming more effective caregivers and in providing care which is relational, patient centered, and holistically oriented.

    + Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Education

    + **Master's Degree Required:** Divinity, Theology, Religion, or a related field

    Experience

    + **Minimum of 2 years Required:** Healthcare chaplaincy (or equivalent setting) experience

    + **Required:** 4 units of ACPE Certified CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education Units)

    + **Preferred:** Acute care experience

    + **Preferred:** Previous leadership experience

    Credentials

    + **Required within 3 years:** Chaplain Board Certified or certification eligible by National Association of Catholic Chaplains, or Association of Professional Chaplains, the National Association of Jewish Chaplains, or Spiritual Care Association/Healthcare Chaplaincy Association or Association of Clinical Pastoral Education certified or provisionally certified and

    + **Required:** Basic Life Support for Hospice Chaplains

    + **Preferred Upon Hire:** Endorsement/Approval: Provide documentation of approval/endorsement from an endorsing body that represents the caregiver's theological/spiritual/philosophical identity

    Skills

    + Ability to assist others in medical decision making consistent with their values and belief system. (Required)

    + Knowledge of and ability to interpret the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services. (Required)

    + Ability to appropriately articulate his/her own spiritual perspective and integration while remaining respectful of the perspective of others. (Required)

    + Able to integrate experience and reflection into pastoral ministry. (Required)

    + Ability to interact with faith community leaders of diverse denominations and faith traditions. (Required)

    + Ability to work effectively with patients who have widely varying physical, emotional, cultural, and religious/spiritual needs which bring meaning to their lives and to their experiences as patients. (Required)

    + Crisis counseling skills and/or experience required for addressing and processing trauma situations. (Required)

    + Ability to integrate and utilize a variety of modalities in healing, i.e., guided meditation, music thanatology, etc. (Required)

    + Computer literate and proficient in MS Office; Electronic Medical Record experience. (Preferred)

    All Networks:

    + Chaplains may be required to float between Hospital, Hospice, and PHMG, etc., as requested/required.

     

    Working Conditions

    Lifting

    + Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

    + Sedentary work.

    Environmental Conditions

    + Predominantly operates in an office environment.

    + Some time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.

    Mental/Visual

    + Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).

    + Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
