Description
**PeaceHealth is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician III for a Full Time, 0.90 FTE, Evening position.** The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $24.67 – $37.03. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.
This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.
Job Summary
Responsible to practice in a professional manner and enforcing the standards of quality assurance, infection control, DNV and other regulatory agencies. Performs routine maintenance and preparation of surgical instruments, supplies and equipment requiring cleaning, decontamination, inspection, assembly, package, testing, sterilization and/or high-level disinfection in a medical facility.
Details of the position
+ Assist in orientation and training of new caregivers, and ongoing mentorship of caregivers. Responsible for acting as a resource to caregivers in explaining how specific duties are performed in compliance with regulatory agencies, and why they are important to patient safety.
+ Assumes the lead role, in the absence of the Lead Sterile Processing Technician.
+ Provides in-services for new instrumentation.
+ Assists and participates in process improvement initiatives.
+ Responsible for documenting, monitoring and maintaining accurate records demonstrating high level disinfection and sterilization in accordance with current professional and regulatory agencies.
+ Collaborates with the Perioperative Nursing staff to provide sterile instrument sets, and equipment in an accurate and timely manner. Assists in maintaining consistent and continuous workflow, providing superior customer service.
+ Responsible for the coordination, assembly and distribution of supplies, equipment and instruments for surgical cases.
+ Re-stocking inventory.
+ Cleaning, decontaminating, disassembling and sterilizing instruments and supplies.
+ Operate a variety of sterilization equipment.
+ Clean and maintain department equipment.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
What you bring
+ 3 years Required: Experience in sterile processing with experience in all surgical specialties
+ Required: Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician or Certified Registered Central Service Technician
+ Required: Certified Instrument Specialist
+ Preferred: Completion of a National Central Service Technician course
+ High School Diploma Preferred: or equivalent
Skills
+ Basic computer skills including MS Office applications. (Required)
+ Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communications in English. (Required)
+ Familiarity and experience in the following areas: (Required)
+ Understanding/knowledge of workflow principles and infection control. (Required)
+ Application of sterilization principles and operate steam sterilizers. (Required)
+ Knowledge of surgical instrumentation including surgical specialties. (Required)
+ Knowledge of patient care equipment and its use. (Required)
Working Conditions
Lifting
+ Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
+ Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment, frequently.
+ Lift/Carry: Frequently up to 25 lbs.
+ Push/Pull: Frequently up to 10 lbs. force.
+ Reaching frequently.
+ Squat/ kneel occasionally.
Environmental Conditions
+ Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
+ Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
Mental/Visual
+ Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
+ Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
