    The global strategy for Breadboard/LabCar Simulation & Automation Technical Expert focuses on several key components to ensure consistency, safety, and efficiency across all global testing labs involved in Breadboard/LabCar testing. Develop new methods of simulation and automation capabilities to support new technologies, architectures, ADAS levels, connected services, and electrified propulsion. Accelerate Road-to-Lab migration across multiple functions (motion controls, calibration, ADAS, and virtual vehicle validation).

     

    In this position...

     

    + Standardization of Global Testing Protocols: Establishing standardized testing procedures across all labs (MEC, Dunton, VISE, GTBC, IMG markets, Palo Alto, etc.) to ensure that results are comparable and can be confidently utilized in decision-making processes.

    + Integration of Advanced Technologies: Leveraging advancements in technology, such as automation and data analytics, to enhance testing capabilities and streamline processes. This includes the use of automated testing systems and the development of next-generation test methods.

    + Focus on Safety: Prioritizing the implementation of rigorous safety protocols for handling low and high voltage systems. This involves training staff on safe handling techniques and ensuring that all testing environments are equipped to manage the risks associated with these systems.

     

    What you'll do...

     

    + Cost Management: Developing strategies to address warranty costs and vehicle program development time associated with software defined vehicles. This could involve analyzing test data to identify failure modes and implementing design improvements to reduce the likelihood of issues arising during the vehicle life cycle as well as reducing the amount of time Ford Motor requires to develop new vehicles and features.

    + Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing: Promoting collaboration among teams across different labs to share best practices, lessons learned, and insights gained from testing. This helps foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

    + Global Compliance and Regulatory Alignment: Ensuring that all testing activities comply with global standards and regulations related to vehicle safety and performance. This may involve staying updated on regulatory changes and adapting testing protocols accordingly.

    + Scalability and Flexibility: Designing test processes that can be scaled up or down based on test environment and project demands. This flexibility is crucial in accommodating various electrical system architectures, feature technologies and program complexities.

    + Feedback Loop for Continuous Improvement: Implementing a structured feedback loop that allows for the continual assessment and refinement of testing methodologies based on real-world outcomes, market trends, technological advancements, testing escape points

     

    You'll have...

     

    + Master's of Science Degree (ex. MSME, MSEE, Computer Sciences).

    + 10+ years of automotive testing experience with at least 5 years’ experience leading integration and simulation of electrical breadboard (“LabCar”) testing.

    + Expert knowledge of data collection, simulation, test automation and communication systems.

    + Experience with vehicle simulation and automation tools, including dSPACE tools (ControlDesk, ConfigurationDesk, MotionDesk, ASM), and other test tools.

    + Experience with MiL / SiL / HiL methodologies.

    + Network communication skills (CAN Tool knowledge / experience, LIN, Ethernet, AutoSAR).

    + Demonstrated leadership behaviors and related experienceMS Office skills required.

     

    Even better, you may have...

     

    + Working level knowledge of lab scheduling and management tools, including ELMS for test status setting and communications.

    + Working level knowledge of scripting and automation of test systems and laboratories, as well as simulation tools and HIL platforms.

    + Functional understanding and experience using git version control and JIRAStrong teamwork, analytical, oral, and written skills.

    + MATLAB, CANalyzer, VB/Excel Macro skills a plus.

    + Automotive ethernet, Software Defined Vehicle knowledge is a plus.

    + Strong technical leadership, organization, teamwork, presentation, and communication skills.

    + Ability to work in a dynamic environment with rapidly changing requirements and cross functional objectives.
