    Position Summary...

     

    Walmart Marketplace is expanding in the Automotive category, and were seeking a Senior Manager, Category Planning & Analytics to drive category business planning and drive data-backed strategies that optimize assortment, pricing, seller engagement, and operational performance. This role will work with other members of the Strategic Initiatives Team and will partner closely with the Marketplace Account Management Team, the Omnichannel Merchant Team, Product Management, and Finance Teams to fuel the growth of Walmarts automotive category.

     

    What you'll do...

    Key Responsibilities:

    Category Planning

    + Drive annual, quarterly, and monthly category planning, aligning with business goals, financial targets, and seller engagement initiatives.

    + Partner with Account Managers and Business Development to identify high-growth product categories and sellers using data insights like product volume trends, seller opportunity insights, and competitive benchmarks.

    + Develop and execute pricing and promotional strategies to increase competitiveness and conversion rates.

    + Optimize seller incentives and growth programs, ensuring they drive the right seller behaviors and category expansion.

    Category Performance ; Business Insights

    + Work directly with Account Managers to analyze seller performance, SKU-level performance, and competitive positioning, driving data-backed recommendations to improve GMV, conversion, and seller profitability.

    + Track and improve on-time delivery (OTD), pricing competitiveness, and seller fulfillment rates to ensure Walmart is competitive.

    + Develop and maintain dashboards, scorecards, and business reviews to measure key metrics like GMV growth, conversion rate, and price competitiveness.

    + Identify operational, assortment, seller, and pricing opportunities to improve marketplace performance, particularly for high-impact programs like Ship-to-Store and more.

    + Support analytics around fitment initiatives, identifying SKU coverage gaps, assortment white space opportunities, and more.

    + Work with cross-functional teams to enhance reporting capabilities and develop automated insights dashboards.

    Seller ; Assortment Optimization

    + Work closely with Account Managers and Business Development to develop high-value partners.

    + Guide Account Managers with data-driven recommendations on pricing, inventory, and promotional opportunities to maximize performance.

    + Drive high-demand product categories and sellers using insights from competitive data.

    + Develop analytics to track SKU coverage and gaps in assortment to support catalog expansion.

    Competitive ; Market Intelligence

    + Benchmark pricing, promotions, and seller programs against competitors.

    + Identify white space opportunities in the catalog and recommend new product development or seller recruitment efforts.

    + Assess competitive trends in digital merchandising, customer experience, and fulfillment capabilities.

    + Drive insights into how Walmart can better utilize and deploy seller and product incentives to gain a competitive advantage.

    Key Qualifications ; Experience:

    + 7+ years of experience in category planning, analytics, eCommerce, marketplaces, or a related field.

    + Strong data analysis and financial modeling skills, with expertise in Excel, Tableau, Looker, or other BI tools.

    + Deep understanding of ecommerce, marketplace dynamics, and third-party seller models (experience in automotive categories is a plus).

    + Proven ability to translate data into insights and strategic actions that drive business impact.

    + Experience working cross-functionally with product, engineering, business development, marketing, and finance teams.

    + Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence executive decision-making.
