Job Overview
Overview
Pharmacy supervisors have accountability for leading high-functioning pharmacy teams and supervising daily pharmacy services in their designated area(s). This includes, but is not limited to, regulatory compliance, pharmaceutical care services, drug information, drug distribution, medication safety, process improvement, financial and inventory optimization initiatives, clinical service support, and education/development of staff, students or residents.
Supervise the day-to-day operations of the pharmacists to ensure exceptional and safe care and service is provided for customers.
+ Act as an expert resource for staff to resolve issues and answer questions
+ Lead feedback and complaint resolution, track and analyze for trends. Make certain all customers’ and staff concerns or complaints are handled promptly and properly
+ Evaluate and recommend changes in processes and procedures
+ Assist manager in developing competency and learning resources.
+ Anticipate needs and take initiative to provide overall support to the manager
+ Complete special projects as assigned and substitute for staff as needed
+ Recommend policies and procedures to ensure efficient and profitable business operations
Supervise the pharmacists and technicians, including: hiring, orienting, coaching, evaluating and effectively managing performance to ensure pharmacists possess the needed skills to deliver high quality service to customers
+ Provide ongoing, continuous management oversight, as a coach who supports the growth and development of employees
+ Assess and direct or redirect daily workflow to ensure safety, accuracy and efficiency of work product
+ Recruit/interview/hire pharmacists, technicians and pharmacy interns. Coordinate orientation of new staff, and ensure ongoing education of current staff
+ Provide training, mentoring, leadership and direction to staff. Educate staff on complex needs of Fairview Home Infusion patients and their medications.
+ Maintain and monitor the productivity level of the staff to maximize efficiency, assure adequate staffing levels, and control costs; approve timecards
+ Complete timely performance reviews of staff according to policy
+ Create and support a productive team environment through effective communication and availability to team members. Model enthusiasm and dedication to work and tactical objectives
Ensure that appropriate pharmaceutical care including patient counseling and prospective drug use evaluation to all patients receiving specialty and mail service therapy.
+ Perform initial patient evaluation as it pertains to the prescribed therapies. Collect, analyze, interpret, and evaluate appropriate data relative to medication therapy. Obtain histories and apply these along with other patient data to optimize drug therapy management. Work with other healthcare providers to evaluate patients to determine appropriateness for specialty and mail service therapy.
+ Evaluate the significance of signs and symptoms relative to disease processes and make recommendations for the modification of drug therapy.
+ Evaluate the significance and clinical importance of adverse reactions and complications associated with drug therapy.
+ Monitor patient records for potential drug/drug or drug/food interactions as well as patient allergies
+ Provide counseling and answer questions from patients, family and health care professionals concerning drug therapy.
Provide prescription drug therapy to patients/customers ensuring accurate labeling and dispensing of medications in a timely fashion.
+ Become familiar with specialty and mail service pharmacy billing process.
+ Evaluate patient supply of medications and appropriate supplies.
+ Assist patient and other healthcare providers on administration of medication.
+ Monitor and evaluate clinical outcomes
Required Qualifications
+ Doctorate of Pharmacy
+ 2 years of pharmacy experience
+ Pharmacist MN Board of Pharm
Preferred Qualifications
+ Successful completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency program
+ 1 year of pharmacy leadership experience

The posted pay range is for a 40-hour workweek (1.0 FTE). The actual rate of pay offered within thisrange may depend on several factors, such as FTE, skills, knowledge, relevant education, experience,and market conditions. Additionally, our organization values pay equity and considers the internal equity of our team when making any offer. Hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical.
