Job Summary
The role of Manager, Demand Planning plays an integral role in contributing to GAF's success. This individual will improve the planning and execution of GAF's Supply Chain through collaborative and effective forecasting for key markets and products. The Manager will develop and implement a demand planning strategy and process to achieve our strategic intent of Right Product, Right Place, Right Time, Right Cost, Right Resources. The Manager, Demand Planning will also influence inventory management recommendations.
Essential Duties
+ 25% Demand Strategy and Process - Responsible for driving the creation, improvement, implementation, documentation, and education of all demand planning activities across the organization. Lead the adoption of best practices in demand planning, aligned with the unique needs of the building materials industry, to enhance forecast accuracy and business performance. Play a key role in developing and communicating the future vision of demand planning within GAF, including identifying and integrating critical systems and processes that support this vision. Ensure that demand planning is an integral part of GAF’s overall aspiration for end-to-end planning, providing alignment and key inputs to financial projections and cross-functional decision-making.
+ 40% Demand Forecasting - Short-Mid Term, Accountable for publishing, implementing, and developing forecasts for all residential products, including manufactured and purchased items across all sell-to geographies, product lines, and time horizons. This role will track, monitor, and update forecasts based on actual pacing, weather events, and key market insights while implementing and sharing relevant metrics to improve forecast accuracy, inventory management, cost savings, and service levels. Develop and implement demand forecasting models, analyze historical sales and market trends, and facilitate forecast review meetings. Closely collaborate with Marketing, Sales, and FP&A to align planning activities with GAF’s financial goals.
+ Long-term, Lead alignment and collaboration of demand projections for Residential and Commercial Asphaltic products over a 2–10-year horizon. This includes working closely with Marketing, Finance, and R&D to understand key drivers impacting industry outlooks and translating those insights into actionable demand plans for GAF.
+ 15% Customer & Partner Collaboration - Serve as the primary contact for external customers and partners associated with demand, incorporating shared data to enhance the demand planning process and proactively seeking new data sources to improve forecast accuracy. This role will focus on driving value through the integrated supply chain by strengthening customer collaboration across end-to-end planning. Responsible for establishing a project plan and timeline to expand customer collaboration beyond the current state and identify opportunities to improve visibility into end-customer needs.
+ 20% Training and Development - Provide leadership and guidance to the demand planner (currently this role will have 1 direct report) and peers, internal and external to the team, to further develop knowledge and expertise around Demand Planning. Regularly provide actionable feedback as well as solicit feedback for personal improvement. Encourage participation in certifications, training, and conferences to foster a culture of continuous learning. Foster a strong culture of integrated and data-driven decision-making.
