Senior Platform Engineer – Enterprise Data OVERVIEW:

7-Eleven's is looking for an experienced Platform engineer to join the Enterprise Data Platform Engineering / DevOps team! At 7-Eleven, Enterprise Data is the aggregator of all large-scale datasets from across the organization. We maintain the Enterprise Data Lake and Data Analytics Platform, producing reports, metrics, and insights for users ranging from C-level executives, to store managers. The Enterprise Data Platform team supports all of the infrastructure and automation needs of the Enterprise Data department, ensuring Data Engineers, Data Analysts, and Data Scientists can work at full speed, bringing maximum value to the company. RESPONSIBILITIES: As part of the Platform Engineering team, you will be responsible for maintaining the core infrastructure making up the Enterprise Data Platform - mostly self-hosted data products hosted in Azure. This includes initial deployment and configuration of data products (such as Apache Pinot, Apache Kafka, Azure Databricks), and long-term monitoring and maintenance of these products. You will also be responsible for building core tools and patterns enabling better developer experience / SDLC for Data Engineers and Data Analysts within the Enterprise Data Department. Key Responsibilities: • Design, implement, and maintain scalable and secure Data infrastructure on both Azure and AWS (but mostly Azure), including networking, Linux adminisatration, IAM and security, and scalability • Manage cloud infrastructure using IaC tools, like Terraform • Implement CI/CD pipelines for data workloads using Azure Devops, Gitlab CI, and Jenkins • Build Platform automation and monitoring scripts using Bash, Python, and other scripting languages. • Develop core python libraries used by Data Engineers, Data Analysts, and Data Scientists • Build and maintain user-facing documentation for all the services owned by the Platform team • Mentor and guide junior team members, to ensure the long-term growth of the team • Support Enterprise Data engineering team members (Data Engineers, Data Analysts, Data Scientists), to ensure that Platform tools are being used properly and effectively • Participate in, and lead the team’s Agile SDLC process, leading standups, backlog refinements, retros • Meet and coordinate with other core teams within 7-Eleven, including Cloud Engineering, Information Security, and Business teams

QUALIFICATIONS: Basic Qualifications: • 5+ years of proven experience in DevOps, Platform, or Site Reliability Engineering, with hands-on experience managing cloud infrastructure in Azure or AWS • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or an additional 2 years of relevant work experience) • Expertise in at least one infrastructure-as-code technology (such as Terraform, CDK, Pulumi, ARM, or CloudFormation) • Expertise in at least one CI/CD orchestration engine (such as Gitlab CI, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Github Actions) • Expertise in at least one scripting language (such as Bash, Python, Javascript) • In-depth knowledge of Linux server administration, and the Linux command line. • In-depth knowledge of cloud networking fundamentals, including VNet setup and configuration, Load Balancing, NAT, DNS, and Firewalls • In-depth knowledge of application performance monitoring and observability practices (logging, alerting, monitoring, etc.) • In-depth knowledge of application security best-practices (TLS, OAuth, Firewalls, PKI, API Security) • Proficiency in containerization and container orchestration technologies (like Docker and Kubernetes) • Proficiency in product-driven engineering – building features with both customer needs and the business in mind Preferred / Nice-to-have Qualifications: • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field • Experience leading an engineering team, leading Agile ceremonies, and engaging stakeholders for requirements gathering • Experience in Full-Stack software engineering – building web or mobile applications, for public or internal customers • Experience in Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Data Science, or AI/ML • Experience working with or administering Data Analytics Platforms, such as Databricks, Snowflake, Amazon Redshift + Glue, Airflow, Kafka, Pinot. • Experience designing and provisioning networks in hybrid cloud environments, or crosscloud environments. • Certifications in either Azure or AWS Cloud technologies
