    Job Summary:

    Fairleigh Dickinson University, Department of Occupational Therapy, seeks applications for a Doctoral Capstone Coordinator ( DCC ) position for the entry-level Occupational Therapy Doctoral ( OTD ) Program. This is a full-time, 12-month faculty position. ​The DCC will manage, coordinate, and safeguard scholarly integrity and the scientific quality of capstone projects as delineated by Accreditation Council of Occupational Therapy Education ( ACOTE ) standards. The DCC is also responsible for teaching in the entry-level OTD program. The DCC will work collaboratively with the OTD Program Director, Academic Fieldwork Coordinator, and faculty members to advance the program’s mission. A tenure-track appointment will be available for the qualified and interested candidate.

    Principal Duties

    1. Responsible for coordinating, organizing, and managing the Capstone Experience and Projects in collaboration with the program director and OTD faculty.

    2. Oversee students’ progression during all aspects of capstone education.

    3. Supervise the development of Capstone Projects and Capstone Experiences for students enrolled in the OTD program.

    4. Maintain ongoing communication with faculty mentors, site mentors, and capstone site administrators.

    5. Identify and maintain sites for the capstone experience.

    6. Implement policies relevant to capstone education.

    7. Assist the Program Director in creating a system for regular evaluation of capstone education and its overall functionality to be used for accreditation and institutional effectiveness reporting.

    8. Work with the Program Director to manage the ongoing processes of accreditation, relevant to capstone education.

    9. Develop and deliver learning activities and assessments throughout the semester for assigned courses.

    10. Develop syllabi for assigned courses in alignment with the curriculum design of the OT program and in compliance with ACOTE standards.

    11. Hold weekly office hours, advise graduate students, and supervise student capstone projects.

    12. Attend and participate in OT program/committee meetings, program activities, meetings, trainings, seminars, and campus events (when applicable)

    13. Collaborate with the appropriate committees, faculty members, and administrators in ongoing curriculum development, program evaluation, ACOTE accreditation activities, and identifying strategies for continuous quality improvement.

    14. Provide service to the program, university, and/or community.

    15. Demonstrate active involvement in research/scholarship.

    16. Perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications:

    1. A doctoral degree awarded by an institution that is accredited by a USDE -recognized institutional accrediting agency

    2. A minimum of five years of clinical experience in occupational therapy.

    3. Occupational therapy license in the state of New Jersey or eligible

    4. NBCOT certification or eligibility for certification

    5. Demonstrated evidence in teaching graduate courses and using Learning Management System(s)

    6. Demonstrated evidence in research/ scholarly achievement is preferred.

    7. Demonstrated evidence in teaching in interprofessional courses is preferred.

    8. Existing independent scholarly agenda, familiarity with Institutional Review Board ( IRB ) policies and procedures, and prior experience with successful mentorship of student research and/or capstone projects is preferred.

    9. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card
