    Koniag Emerging Technologies, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Senior Software Architect to provide technical leadership and architectural direction supporting our federal client. The ideal candidate will bring extensive enterprise architecture experience, deep technical expertise, and proven leadership abilities in modern software development practices. This position requires a Public Trust Clearance. This position offers flexible remote work options with occasional on-site requirements.

    The Senior Software Architect will provide technical vision and leadership while designing and implementing enterprise-level solutions. Principal responsibilities include:

     

    + Designing and implementing enterprise-wide architectural solutions

    + Creating and maintaining technical roadmaps for systems and applications

    + Leading architecture design sessions and technical reviews

    + Establishing architectural standards, patterns, and best practices

    + Evaluating and recommending new technologies and frameworks

    + Overseeing system integration and cloud migration strategies

    + Ensuring architectural decisions align with business objectives

    + Mentoring development teams on technical best practices

    + Leading proof-of-concept initiatives for new technologies

    + Collaborating with stakeholders to define technical vision

    + Providing technical oversight for multiple development teams

    + Ensuring compliance with federal security requirements

    + Managing technical debt and system modernization efforts

    + Facilitating Agile ceremonies and architectural discussions

    Required:

    + Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field

    + 10+ years of software development experience

    + 5+ years of architecture experience

    + Current Scrum Master certification

    + Previous experience working with federal agencies

    + Demonstrated experience leading enterprise architecture initiatives

    Required Skills and Competencies:

    + Expert-level understanding of software architecture patterns and principles

    + Deep knowledge of cloud architecture and AWS services

    + Advanced experience with containerization and Kubernetes orchestration

    + Extensive experience with Java enterprise applications

    + Experience with Sprint Boot & Hibernate

    + Strong background in Angular and modern front end architectures

    + Expertise in microservices architecture and design

    + Experience with Apache SOLR for Search

    + Experience with event-driven architectures

    + Strong understanding of API design and management

    + Proficiency in security architecture and compliance

    + Expert knowledge of DevOps practices and tools

    + Experience with distributed systems design

    + Strong system integration experience

    + Excellence in technical leadership and mentoring

    + Superior communication and presentation skills

    + Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust Clearance

    + Experience architecting solutions for federal agencies

    Desired Skills and Competencies:

    + Experience with domain-driven design

    + Expertise in data architecture and analytics

    + Background in zero-trust architecture

    + Knowledge of federal security frameworks (FISMA, NIST)

    + Experience with event sourcing patterns

    + Familiarity with Department of Interior systems

    + Background in high-availability system design

    + Knowledge of federal enterprise architecture frameworks

    + Experience with performance optimization

    + Understanding of AI/ML architecture patterns

    + Expertise in scalability and reliability engineering

    Additional Responsibilities:

    + Lead architecture and code review

    + Develop architecture governance processes

    + Create architecture documentation and diagrams

    + Evaluate vendor solutions and technologies

    + Provide architectural guidance across multiple projects

    + Establish metrics for architectural success

    + Guide teams in architectural decision-making

    + Ensure compliance with enterprise standards

    + Participate in capacity planning and scaling decisions

    + Lead technical risk assessment efforts

    + Contribute to strategic technology planning

    + Mentor and develop other architects
