    General Summary:

    This position provides technical strategy leadership and transformation services that aligns with and supports Unum’s business. Helps shape strategies that will be pivotal in the transforming and accelerating of business results. Works collaboratively applying a understanding of business capability decomposition, business capability gap analysis and capability maturity models, processes mapping and/needs combined with a strong grasp of technology advancements and trends to solve complex business problems. This position is responsible for business cases value levers, conceptual solution designs and technology roadmaps with interim and long term KPIs for business core platforms.

     

    They work with their team to implement and deliver new solutions to enable, enhance or transform business capabilities or services. They work with their manager and business product owners to define delivery priorities in line with the technical, financial and people resources available. This position contributes to strategic decisions and is involved in operational planning with business partners.

     

    This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of three days per week on-site at one of the following locations: Chattanooga, TN; Columbia, SC; Portland, ME; or Atlanta, GA.

    Job Specifications

    + 8+ years of experience in an IT field preferred, or equivalent relevant work experience.

    + Degree in computer science preferred, or relevant technical experience

    + Demonstrated experience software implementation and delivery.

    + Prior people management experience required.

    + Knowledge of current and emerging technologies a plus

    + Strong Communications skills; written, verbal and presentation

    + Proven ability to communicate complex, technical information in easily understood manner.

    + Demonstrates leadership in executing IT plans successfully that enable technical or business capabilities and address technology or business priorities

    + Strong understanding of Agile/Lean leadership principles

    + Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with peers and business partners across the corporation.

    + Proven ability to understand complex issues and see solutions that others may not.

    + Able to think conceptually, understand the big picture and convey to others.

    + Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into innovative, achievable technical solutions.

    + Strong thirst for knowledge relative to technology advancements and trends.

    + Demonstrated idea orientation and creative thinking.

    + Proven ability to work collaboratively – actively seek and consider ideas from others as well as through keen observation.

    + Proven ability to motivate and lead others to achieve results.

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities

    + Able to facilitate technical discussions with senior business and technology leaders and have a commanding presence combined with strong, clear and concise communications skills

    + Responsible for defining business capabilities, decomposition of said capabilities into further levels of detail, capability gap analysis and capability maturity models and progression thereof

    + Accountable for driving/developing business case value levers, technology cost models, and justification for recommended technology initiatives/options

    + Accountable for building, and advancing technology roadmaps

    + Leverages deep understanding of IT, emerging technologies, and technical capabilities to guide and influence stakeholders and teams in developing solutions, build, deployment, testing and ongoing management of IT services.

    + Understands patterns and trends that contribute to utilizing key performance indicators and critical success factors that will improve the performance of the organization.

    + Provides recommendations based on strong front-to-back understanding of exiting digital capabilities and frameworks combined with a strong understanding of emerging technologies.

    + Understands and supports organizational goals/priorities and contributes to strategic decisions.

    + Understands, supports and drives definition and adoption of Unum’s Agile Framework (based on scaled agile framework)

    + Acts as a role-model and mentor for other IT professionals at various levels in technical matters and related business operations.

    + Acts as a role model for developing and maintaining positive, collaborative relationships with all constituents including business and IT peers and leaders.

    + Acts as a role model for collaborative and persuasive communication with senior business and IT leaders, peers and partners.

    + Recommends, promotes and delivers effective, high-quality solutions within agreed upon timeframes.

    + Performs other duties as assigned.

    The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.

     

    $109,100.00-$224,000.00

     

    Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
