    **Department:** Ultrasound

    **Location:** Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti, MI

    **Shift available:** 1st shift, 7a-4:30p Tuesday - Friday

    (some flexibility on start and end times)

    **Status available:** Full Time, 36 hours per week

    Position Purpose:

    The Clinical Operations Coordinator, Ultrasound performs the duties of the Ultrasound Technologist, provides supervision and direction to the staff, and works closely with Administrative and Physician leadership to maintain efficient and effective operations, ensure quality and promote change. The Coordinator also works with the Education Coordinator, Ultrasound to develop and maintain educational programs for the Ultrasound staff.

    What the Ultrasound Coordinator will need:

    + Completion of an accredited Medical Sonography program

    + Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) with a minimum of one certification

    + Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association

    + Five years as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer preferred

    + Must have in-depth knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy

    + Must have the ability to produce and evaluate quality images

    What the Imaging Coordinator will do:

    + Assists department management in interviewing, hiring, orienting, evaluating, training and counseling Sonographers in all ultrasound areas.

    + Oversees the day-to-day patient care activities in all ultrasound areas by assuring adequate staffing.

    + Creates employees schedules throughout department to include department coordination of PTO requests.

    + Plans and assigns duties of staff to meet patient care requirements and participates in staff meetings.

    + Performs timekeeping tasks for department under supervision of the manager.

    + Assures the quality of all ultrasound procedures by utilizing equipment, other available resources, technique and protocol to identify problems and evaluate services.

    + Takes appropriate corrective actions to resolve problems.

    + Works in cooperation with other coordinators to assist and direct Sonographers in completing all requested work appropriately and in a timely manner.

    + Regularly performs a variety of routine and complex diagnostic imaging procedures as a Sonographer.

    + Oversees and ensures proper treatment of patients while in the department and ensures that VOICE reports on any injuries sustained in the department are completed.

    + Monitors and immediately reports equipment in need of repair to appropriate personnel. Works closely with Clinical Engineering to assure equipment sustainability.

    + May make recommendations for purchase of new equipment and maintenance of existing equipment. Ensures an adequate inventory of supplies.

    + Instructs students and new staff members in clinical imaging procedures and serves as a resource to Sonographers.

    + Provides input for performance reviews.

    + Practices sterile, isolation and aseptic techniques to prevent contamination. Maintains documentation of infection control procedures and activities. Abides by Infection Control policy relating to Intracavitary probe disinfection, to include all accurate documentation within the department at each location worked.

    + Provides quality patient care by considering the age specific, development and cultural needs through competent clinical practice. Demonstrates unit/area competencies.

    + Performs other duties as assigned
