Job Description

This position is responsible for the on-going development and maintenance of institutional databases, data integrations, applications and reports that support software, business processes and effective data driven decision-making and core University business processes and operational requirements. This position is also a key contributor to the University’s efforts to develop a robust and secure reporting environment in support of varied institutional needs including enrollment management, financial aid, alumni, and fundraising. This position is essential to the institution’s academic, enrollment management, and fundraising missions as a key team member in the management and support of a wide spectrum of quality information technology databases, applications, and services.

+ Develop, implement, and maintain data extraction and integration from internal databases to a multitude of external software, applications, and databases

+ Data validation, editing, and ensuring accuracy

+ Engage with broad range of university constituents (admissions, recruitment, identity management, facilities management, foundation/alumni etc) to design and revise existing data connections and business processes

+ Collaborate with Data Infrastructure, Systems, and Analysis colleagues on on-going ISRS/SIS, Workday, Slate, and other SMSU system support

Minimum Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s Degree in business, computer science, data analytics, mathematics, applied science or related field OR equivalent combinations of education and work experiences in relational database support and maintenance including table design/creation, joining logic, developing stored procedures and database optimization sufficient to support highly effective databases.

Preferred Qualification

+ Expertise with programming tools and software (such as SQL, MS Access SQL, MS Excel functions) sufficient to support and maintain existing institutional databases.

+ Proficiency with MS Access and MS Excel related to report, chart, and spreadsheet formatting sufficient to inform data driven decision making.

+ Knowledge of database security practices and principles sufficient to ensure that databases meet applicable security requirements.

+ Proficiency with presentation and productivity software (e.g., Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat tools) that is sufficient to develop clear and coherent documentation and reports for clients.

+ Experience supporting higher education data resource needs.

+ Knowledge of Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence concepts and principles.

+ Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management software and processes.

+ Experience with fundraising and gift giving within a non-profit environment.
