Job Summary:
The Software Sales Engineer (SSE) is a partner and customer-facing, B2B role that focuses on helping drive adoption of Allegion software solutions with Allegion Technology Partner Developer and Product teams and help convey the value of Allegion products to serve partner and customer needs. The SSE promotes, evangelizes, qualifies and helps partner managers closes opportunities that drive Allegion hardware and software technology into our partner B2C solution offerings. The SSE has a technical background and a working knowledge of modern cloud-based development design patterns, cloud-architecture and multi-tiered, and cloud-centric applications. The SSE will be responsible for supporting the development of the Allegion field demo strategy for Allegion software products as well as supporting partner demo and product adoption programs. The SSE will also support product adoption goals by assisting with conducting market and competitive analysis research and documenting Allegion business value in sales materials and marketing and training content to help Allegion meet business metrics. The SSE will act as an advisor to Allegion partners, understanding their business challenges and guiding them through how Allegion software-based solutions can meet their needs.
What You Will Do:
+ Work with key stakeholders to execute strategies and solutions to meet customer technology solution requirements using Allegion technology and services.
+ Assist the sales team in communicating the value of Allegion Cloud and mobile technology, supporting our partner management team as a technical subject matter expert liaison in pursuit of partner adoption. Results from efforts in this role will support hardware and software revenue growth within existing and new accounts and ensuring high integrity of Allegion solutions in the market.
+ Expand the prospect’s/customer’s vision through excellent product demonstrations that convey the value of Allegion technology
+ Support technology qualification assessment to determine solution feasibility using facilitation techniques and collaborative methods.
+ Qualify opportunities to identify and mitigate deal risks.
+ Identify solution gaps and work to resolve them in conjunction with Allegion Engineering and Product teams and other internal resources.
+ Seek opportunities to win customer business through innovation.
+ Elicit, Identify, document and prioritize customer business requirements looking across business, technical, regulatory and implementation requirements in “as is” and “to be” states.
+ Conduct technical Proof of Value project with prospects based on predefined success criteria to demonstrate the practical applicability of Allegion technology integrated and functioning within prospect ecosystems.
+ Conduct technical discovery sessions to collect prospect requirements and author Statements of Work (SOWs) to define contractual implementation commitments for opportunities
+ Serve as an advisor to Allegion partners, customers and prospects through the sales process. Represent the subject matter expert for Allegion cloud and mobile technology solutions
+ Translate prospect business requirements into solutions that are profitable, drive customer loyalty and are delivered with fidelity.
+ Record, communicate and track product feature requests with Product Management
+ Facilitate discussions with Product Management and internal implementation teams to solve for gaps through Product roadmap updates or customized solutions.
+ Support project scoping and provide key input to the scoping exercise.
+ Represent and advocate as the voice of the customer to internal teams
+ Work with Technical Operations and other internal teams post deal to transition documentation and solution profiles for production implementation.
+ Provide post-sales technical support and training services to customers as necessary in conjunction with the Customer Success Software Engineering team
+ Support marketing events including conferences, brown-bag/lunch-and-learn sessions and webinars.
+ Support internal team sales as well as alliance/business partner opportunities.
+ As necessary, author guides and customer-facing documentation to supplement existing API and SDK content provided by Engineering teams.
What You Need to Succeed:
+ BS Degree and 2-5 years of combined experience in software engineering, solution engineering, technical pre-sales or a software architecture role. Ideally, background includes experience with Enterprise software, PaaS or SaaS. In lieu of a degree 6 years of relevant work experience required.
+ Technical Expertise: Knowledge and experience developing or testing cloud-based or mobile applications
+ Ideally have experience with software architecture patterns, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), APIs, integrations, and security best practices.
+ Sales Expertise: Ideally have experience or exposure to supporting sales teams with technical presentations and solution designs.
+ Communication Skills: Strong ability to present technical solutions in a business context.
+ Tools Expertise: Proficiency with API Development and Testing Tools (VSCode, Postman), some experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Microsoft CRM), Sales enablement platforms (e.g., Hubspot, Seismic), and enterprise architecture tools.
+ Experience working in two of the following industry sectors: smart device management, device manufacturing, enterprise software, software development, IoT software, cloud/large data solutions, strongly preferred
+ Experience working in IoT or Physical Security industries a plus
+ Ability to articulate a software company’s end-to-end value proposition
Competencies
+ Strong presentation skills and ability to present business solutions to senior executives as well as technology to engineers
+ Strong product demonstration skills. Ability to tell a story through a demonstration.
+ Ability to present intricate architecture (“deep-dive”) sessions to using a whiteboard or PowerPoint. Simplify complexity.
+ Strong writing skills. Ability to write coherent guiding documentation based on existing API and SDK documentation a plus. Blog-writing experience a plus.
+ Working knowledge of reference IOT device management lifecycle a plus
Programming Languages & Tools
Exposure to: JavaScript (Node), GraphQL, Shell Scripting, Any of the following: Swift, Kotlin.
Experience with a Cloud Platform Stack (Cloud functions, serverless architecture, API gateway, Cloud DNS, Cloud Functions, Cloud Logging. Postman, Xcode, Visual Studio Code, Android Studio
Experience with Zendesk or similar tool, Confluence or similar tool.
Experience with Digital Wallet pass implementation with Apple or Google (NFC Pass) a plus.
Platforms & Services
Experience with any of the following cloud platform providers: AWS, GCP, Azure

**Compensation:** This range is provided by Allegion. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience.
+ The expected Base Salary Range: $80,000 to $120,000. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
