POSITION DETAILS
Bronx Community College seeks an Academic Program Manager to join the First-Year Program (FYP) department. Reporting to the Vice-President of Academic Affairs and Provost, the FYP Manager has overall responsibility for the administration of the First-Year Program including leading the design, implementation, and assessment of activities that support the academic and personal transition of first-year students. The role ensures alignment with institutional goals to improve retention, engagement, and student success.
The mission of the First-Year Program (FYP) is to facilitate the academic and social integration of first year students to Bronx Community College by promoting student empowerment, informed decision making, community building, academic and life skills development, and individual accountability for student success.
The Manager leads all activities related to the FYP, including:
• Develop, implement, and assess first-year experience programs, including orientation, welcome week, and academic success workshops.
• Collaborate with faculty, academic advisors, and student services to ensure holistic support for first-year students.
• Supervise the delivery of First-Year Seminar (FYS) courses, including curriculum coordination, scheduling, and ongoing assessment.
• Provide training, support, and supervision to FYS faculty and peer mentors to ensure alignment with program goals and student learning outcomes.
• Monitor student engagement and progress, using data to identify at-risk students and coordinate targeted interventions.
• Supervise and train peer mentors, student ambassadors, and support staff involved in first-year programming.
• Coordinate with Academic Affairs, Counseling, Career Services, and Learning Resource Centers to connect students with key support services.
• Lead communications to first-year students, including newsletters, resource guides, and digital outreach.
• Design and administer student satisfaction surveys and program assessments to inform continuous improvement.
• Manage program budget and prepare reports on FYP initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and six years' relevant experience required.

• Bachelor’s degree required, master's degree preferred in Education, Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, or a related field.
• Demonstrated management and supervisory skills as well as budget oversight and planning experience.
• Strong understanding of the needs and challenges facing students from diverse urban backgrounds.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, within the department and with faculty and other administrators.
• Strong organizational, project management, communication, and facilitation skills.
• Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records of student activities.
Computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Salary range: **$67,784-$117, 805;** commensurate with qualifications and experience.
