    Under general supervision and procedural control, this position performs a combination of accounting and administrative support duties.** **Knowledge of financial records and coding, inputting and accessing information in the State’s accounting system to maintain an integral part of an extensive accounting operation.** **Performs inventory cycle counts and administrative tasks as required** **_._

    + **Accounts Payable: Prepare and process invoices for payment.**

    + **Payroll Administration: Process payroll for selected departments; ensure employees are correctly paid in accordance to procedures, policies and collective bargaining agreements or plans.**

    + **Expense Reporting: Process employee business expense reports to ensure payments are posted timely to correct budget and in accordance with state regulations and procedures, MnDOT policy, collective bargaining agreement and plans used by the State of Minnesota and generally accepted accounting principles and practices in MMB.**

    + **Backup Receptionist: Welcome visitors and answer incoming calls.**

    Minimum Qualifications

    To qualify for **Account Clerk,** applicant resumes must demonstrate all the following:

    + Basic accounting procedures sufficient to prepare itemized statements, bills or invoices, and record amounts due for items purchased or services rendered.

    + Accounts receivable and computerized billing systems, such as the State of Minnesota’s MAPS system, sufficient to enter and access information, and identify and adjust for potential problems.

    + Accounting knowledge sufficient to reconcile differences between invoices, receipts and purchase orders, and estimate needs based on historical data and events affecting the account.

    + Customer Service skills sufficient to respond effectively to customers who have questions about agency operations and procedures.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + One or more years of accounting or billing work experience.

    + Experience processing payroll sufficient to independently calculate payroll, maintain complete and accurate payroll records, and resolve discrepancies.

    + Proficiency in products such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
