Description
The Dosimetrist Trainer
+ Co-directs the Master's Dosimetry Program. The responsibilities include scheduling student rotations throughout the clinic, providing the majority of instruction and coordinating the remaining training.
+ The teaching dosimetrist will be available to the student for treatment planning consultation for technical and professional elements.
+ This individual will also evaluate the quality and appropriateness of all treatment plans in relation to the student's knowledge prior to the physician review.
+ The teaching dosimetrists will be present anytime a student is having direct contact with a patient and will supervise the student's implementation of all clinical work. The teaching dosimetrist will also oversee the student's practicum related competencies and act as the primary mentor in the projects that supplement the clinical rotation.
+ This person is responsible for the reviewing, grading and assessing the student's progress.
+ Teaches radiation therapy treatment planning in laboratory setting to GA Tech medical physics students. Remains current in review and reading of journal articles in new and efficient dosimetry techniques.
+ Attends and participates in radiation dosimetry professional society meetings. Educates the staff dosimetrists and medical physicists in the afore-mentioned treatment planning techniques.
+ Is proficient in the treatment planning aspect of the care of the patients including simulation, computerized planning and treatment set-up. Maintains skills to assess and care for patients of all ages.
+ Produces plans with all pertinent setup instructions to accurately deliver prescribed treatment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Masters of Science in Medical Dosimetry degree plus graduation from a JRCERT accredited Medical Dosimetry program and current certification as a Medical Dosimetrist by the Medical Dosimetry Certification Board (MDCB).
+ Two (2) years of work experience with an MCDB certification.
