Job Description
A Glimpse of the Job
The Student Development Specialist II (Housing Coordinator) creates a safe living environment for residence halls; ensures resident halls run smoothly on the campus; assists in daily operations; implements residential living policies and procedures within the University guidelines; and appropriately confronts and handles discipline procedures for students.
Essential Duties/Tasks:
Coordination
+ Responsible for the day-to-day operations of 1-3 Residence Halls with direct supervision of 6-12 student staff and indirect supervision of the front desk of designated buildings.
+ Manages work-orders and key/safety systems.
Communication
+ Creates, manages and communicates via social media platforms to keep students informed.
+ Responsible for several Living Learning Communities in the buildings that are supervised and helps continue to facilitate those.
+ Assists in teaching a first-year experience course as part of Hullaballoo-U or Freshmen ZOPT courses with the Corps of Cadets.
+ Assists with Summer Camps and Conferences from check-in process to day-to-day operations.
Educational Leadership
+ Takes part in a Divisional Curriculum by planning, developing and implementing educational programs within the residence halls.
+ Helps guide community leaders in community building, intentional conversations with residents, and crisis management.
Campus/Student Involvement
+ Attends, participates in, and helps plan numerous Student Activities events (New Student Conference, Fall Festival, Howdy Week, etc.).
+ Assists in the presentation of leadership workshops/campus orientations and other presentations as needed.
+ Serves on campus committees.
+ May advise various student groups.
On-Call/Crisis Management and Other
+ Lives in on-campus provided apartment and responds to campus emergencies, working an on-call shift 1-2 weeks and weekends a month.
+ Will be essential personnel in crisis response due to their live-on capacity.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary: $45,000 annually

Required Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ 1-3 years of experience working in higher education and/or student affairs.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Master’s degree in Higher Education/Student Affairs-related field.
+ Two years of experience in Student Affairs, counseling or related area.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Ability to effectively communicate
+ Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
+ Working knowledge of business technology – word-processing, MS/Google suite of tools, etc.
+ Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
Physical Requirements:
Ability to physically complete regular rounds of housing facilities on campus for the sake of inspection.
Other Requirements and Factors:
+ This position is security sensitive.
+ This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules and procedures.
+ All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and University safety requirements.
+ This position will require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.
+ This is a live-on position, occasionally requiring on-call shifts to include emergency response outside of normal business hours. In the case of hurricane or other campus change or closure possible relocation may be required.
