Job Description Summary
The Teens as Teachers Program Assistant, under general supervision, provides administrative oversight and organization of the Teens as Teachers program in Dallas County. This position provides support to the teen teacher experience at different sites around Dallas County. The Program Assistant serves as the point of contact for teen teachers recruited and hired as part of the Dallas County Teens as Teachers program.
Responsibilities
+ Organizes the collection of enrollment forms, photo release forms, and health forms of teen teachers and will get those forms to the designated Dallas County staff.
+ Creates and updates rosters, teen teachers and community teaching sites, and share rosters with site coordinators and teens.
+ Assists with the preparation of lesson plans for teen teachers.
+ Manages the submission of teen teachers paperwork, including forms, vendor requests, check requests and time cards.
+ Supports the coordination of the Teens as Teachers trainings.
+ Maintains inventory the materials needed for each lesson.
+ Co-facilitates and coordinates weekly teen teacher meetings.
+ Supports site visits and collects photos and photo releases.
+ Familiarizes self with the lessons and fills in when needed.
+ Supports teens in the completion of their 4-H project record book.
+ Assists with the Annual Teens as Teachers Recognition Ceremony.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ No prior experience required.
Preferred Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor’s degree in education, general sciences, Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences, or in a job-related field of study, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Experience in teaching in formal and informal settings.
+ Previous experience working as a mentor and/or assisting in an educational program for youth.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Exercises independent judgment and initiative.
+ Excellent customer service skills.
+ Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
+ Works well as a team member.
+ Previous knowledge or experience with the 4-H program.
+ Bilingual proficiency.
+ High level of motivation to develop and implement projects.
+ Ability to travel and provide reliable transportation.
Other Requirements:
+ Availability during normal working hours Monday through Friday and some weekends.
+ Must have access to a computer and reliable Internet connection.
