Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a skilled Java Developer with foundational understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to support a major healthcare insurance client focused on enhancing customer service platforms. This role involves building scalable backend systems, integrating intelligent features, and contributing to the modernization of healthcare support technologies.

The ideal candidate will bring strong Java fundamentals, curiosity about AI technologies, and the ability to work effectively in a remote healthcare-focused environment.

This role provides excellent growth potential for developers looking to expand their skillset into AI/ML while working on meaningful healthcare applications.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain robust Java-based applications using modern frameworks and technologies

Design and implement RESTful APIs and microservices architecture for healthcare customer service platforms

Integrate AI-powered services including chatbots, NLP tools, and intelligent automation features

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance customer experience through technology solutions

Write efficient SQL queries and manage database interactions for healthcare data systems

Support and optimize customer service portals and related applications

Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment processes

Contribute to the digital transformation of healthcare support technologies

Skills and Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field

Experience: 5+ years of hands-on Java development experience

Technical Skills:

o Strong proficiency in Java, JavaScript and Jakarta EE/Java EE platform (CDI, EE10, etc)Solid experience with Spring Boot framework

o Expertise in RESTful API development and consumption

o Knowledge of microservices architecture and design patterns

o Proficient in SQL database design and query optimization

o Experience with CSS for frontend integration

o AI/ML Exposure: Interest in or exposure to AI/ML concepts, particularly:

Integration of AI-powered services

Chatbot development and implementation

Natural Language Processing (NLP) tools and APIs

Machine learning model integration Industry Experience: Background in healthcare or insurance domains (ie. understanding of healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR)

Platform Experience: Experience supporting customer service portals (familiarity with BCBS CIS systems is a plus)

Flexibility: Willingness to travel onsite monthly or quarterly for team collaboration and client meetings

Additional Technical Skills:

o Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)

o Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)

o Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices null
