    The Texas A&M School of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (http://vetmed.tamu.edu/) (VMBS) is an institution that represents 100 years of growth from a small school of vet erinary medicine in 1916 to its present role as a major vet erinary educational, medical, and research center. Today, we are one of the largest schools of vet erinary medicine in the United States, training nearly 600 Doctor of Vet erinary Medicine students each year.     What we want

     

    The Postdoctoral Research Associate will work in the research group on several environmental toxicology-related projects. Supported by multiple funding resources, our lab applied in vitro 3D, rodent, and zebrafish models to understand the environmental impacts on the pollutant toxicities.

     

    What you need to know

     

    Salary: Starting at $50,000 annually .

    Qualifications

    Required Education

    + Doctorate in biomedicine, molecular biology, biochemistry, toxicology, or other closely related fields

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    + Familiarity with basic lab instruments, such as thermocyclers, gel documentation systems, microscopes, plate readers, and centrifuges

    + Skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel are required

    + Experience with using imaging analysis tools, such as lmageJ, and using R, SAS, or other statistical analysis tools

    + Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

    + Standard laboratory techniques, such as tissue culture, western blotting, histology, DNA and RNA manipulation, and other general molecular techniques

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Recently graduated PhDs or obtained the PhD within the last three years

    + Research experience in bioengineered devices and human cells 3D cultures

    + Experience with animal husbandry and cell culture, relevant publication record and strong backgrounds in molecular and cellular biology

    Responsibilities

    + Research: Design and conduct experiments in support of various research projects. Develop new research platforms and models for research projects. Provides primary management of zebra fish and rodent models for various research. Assist with lab management (instrument maintenance and repair, supply inventory, and prepare solutions) as needed.

    + Writings and Presentations: Prepare manuscripts from independent studies and assist students in manuscript writing. Present results at national or international conferences. Assist PI in drafting grant proposals, annual progress reports, and final reports of various grants.

    + Record Keeping: Maintains the records and datasets from all research projects using lab notebooks and electronic devices in the lab.

    + Mentoring: Assists in training and supervising other lab members, including undergraduate and graduate students, and lab technicians.
