We are seeking an **Arborist (NDEC Scientist 1)** to join our Redmond, WA team! Come join us!
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
+ You’ll be a key player in our urban forestry and environmental consulting team, working on a wide range of public and private projects across the Puget Sound region — from Sound Transit and WSDOT infrastructure projects to local trail and site-specific planning efforts. You’ll spend your time both outdoors and at your desk: conducting tree inventories, preparing arborist reports, shaping tree protection plans, and helping clients navigate local codes and permitting requirements.

Minimum requirements:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Horticulture, Environmental Science, or a related field
+ 2-4 years of experience in arboricultural consulting, urban forestry, or related work
+ ISA Certified Arborist (required); TRAQ preferred
+ Valid driver’s license and ability to work in the field year-round
Technical requirements:
+ Experience conducting tree inventories, health assessments, and risk evaluations
+ Familiarity with tree protection requirements, permitting, and municipal codes in the Puget Sound region
+ Proficient in mapping and documenting tree data using GPS and GIS tools
+ Capable of writing clear, defensible arborist reports and reviewing plans for tree impacts
+ Ability to interpret and apply relevant code provisions (e.g., critical areas, ROW/tree ordinances)
Other miscellaneous qualities:
+ Organized and detail-oriented — able to manage tasks across multiple active projects
+ Comfortable working both independently and within a collaborative, interdisciplinary team
+ Interest in mentoring junior staff and growing technical expertise
+ Strong identification ability for Pacific Northwest Landscape and Native trees.
Compensation:
$34 - $40 hourly
The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state’s law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
