AMXL L&D (Amazon Extra Large Learning & Development) is seeking a dynamic and innovative Technical Instructional Designer to build world-class training experiences for Associates within the Amazon Extra Large Network. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and implementing eLearning courseware that seamlessly integrates into the Associate's daily workflow.
Key job responsibilities
- Design and develop interactive, engaging, and effective eLearning modules using modern instructional design methodologies and tools.
- Utilize JavaScript to create dynamic and responsive learning content that adapts to various devices and screen sizes.
- Integrate courseware with existing systems using APIs, ensuring smooth data exchange and real-time updates within the learning environment.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather and translate complex technical information into easily digestible learning materials.
- Implement microlearning strategies to deliver bite-sized, just-in-time training modules directly within the Associate's work applications.
- Leverage APIs to incorporate real-time data and performance metrics into training modules, providing personalized learning experiences.
- Develop simulations and interactive scenarios using JavaScript to create immersive learning experiences that mirror real-world situations.
- Utilize learning analytics APIs to track learner progress, identify areas for improvement, and continuously refine the training content.
- Create and maintain documentation for all developed courseware, including API integrations and JavaScript implementations.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in eLearning, instructional design, and relevant technologies to ensure AMXL L&D remains at the forefront of innovation.
Basic Qualifications
- 3 ys exp in technical instructional design or eLearning development
- Demonstrable experience with JavaScript programming
- Experience working with REST APIs and web services integration
- Expert in at least one major eLearning authoring tool (Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or similar)
- Working knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS)
- Portfolio demonstrating successful eLearning course development
- Experience creating interactive learning content
- Track record of developing training materials from concept to completion
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Learning Sciences, or related field
- Advanced JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue.js)
- Experience with Node.js and backend integration
- Knowledge of cloud services (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Familiarity with xAPI/TinCan API implementation
- Experience with data visualization libraries (D3.js, Chart.js)
- Experience with mobile learning development
- Knowledge of game-based learning and gamification principles
- Experience in creating video-based learning content
- Experience with VR/AR learning solutions
- Advanced animation and multimedia production skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $106,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
