    TYPE OF POSITION: Military/Military Waived non-classified

     

    SUMMARY: This position is assigned to the Gowen Field Fire Department (124 CES/CEF), Idaho Air National Guard, within the State of Idaho – Military Division. The purpose of this position is to prevent the loss of life and property from fire and to supervise the training of personnel in firefighting procedures. Incumbents are subject to hazardous and potentially life-threatening situations, uncommon tours of duty, rotating shift assignments and other-than-normal duty hours, wear of special clothing with appropriate markings, and driving, operating, and travelling in various fire apparatus.

    MILITARY DIVISION MANDATORY QUESTIONS:

    (1) Except for minor traffic offenses, have you ever entered a plea of guilty, no contest, or had a withheld judgment to a felony offense? If YES, please explain on a separate paper and attach it to your application.

     

    (2) Do you certify that I am a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or a Foreign National with authorization to work in the United States?

    MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:

    (1) Must be an enlisted member of the Idaho Air National Guard in a compatible military position and be qualified as an AFSC 3E771/3E791 7- or 9-level firefighter. Provide your military grade, job title, AFSC and unit of assignment. If current Civilian, this requirement will be waived

     

    (2) Must have and maintain a valid and unrestricted state issued driver’s license (from any state), and be eligible to obtain a military driver’s license. Provide your driver’s license number, issuing state, license expiration date, and the full name specified on the license. (Do not provide a copy of your driver’s license.)

     

    (3) Must have, or be eligible to obtain, and maintain a favorable NACI/T1 Federal Background Investigation. If a selected candidate does not have a current favorable NACI/T1, as a condition of employment he/she must submit to the investigation process immediately upon hire/appointment.

     

    (4) Must be qualified as a State of Idaho Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and maintain this certification. (Attach supporting documentation to your application.)

     

    (5) Must possess the following certification levels by an IFSAC or Pro Board Accredited Program (certifications will have affixed IFSAC or Pro Board numbered seal): Fire Officer III, Fire Instructor II, Fire Inspector II, Haz Mat Incident Commander, Incident Safety Officer, and NIMS 300/400 levels. (Attach supporting documentation to your application.)

     

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Must have 18-months of specialized experience performing duties

     

    (1) Knowledge of all firefighting operations (structural and crash).

     

    (2) Knowledge of mutual aid and reciprocal agreements.

     

    (3) Knowledge of proper technical and safety practices relating to the fire protection field.

     

    (4) Knowledge of state rules, regulations and timekeeping.

     

    (5) Ability to assume command and control and the senior fire official.

     

    (6) Skills and ability to direct rescue operations on all military and civilian aircraft.

     

    (7) Skills and ability to interpret basic sketches, blueprints and specifications.

     

    (8) Skills and ability to maintain CPR and EMT certification with the State of Idaho.
