Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic Software Development Manager to lead our engineering teams within the Selling Partner Trust and Compliance (SPTC) organization. This role will be responsible for building and managing high-performing engineering teams that develop innovative solutions to enhance our selling partners' experience and ensure policy compliance through cutting-edge technology.
About SPTC Tech Team:
SPTC Tech develops services that provide best-in-class experiences for our selling partners. We build proactive, scalable solutions that minimize remediation needs and enable selling partners to focus on business growth. Our systems handle millions of sellers and SKUs, protecting multi-billion dollar GMS through configuration-driven services and experiences.
Impact:
As a Software Development Manager, you'll play a crucial role in building the technical foundation that powers Amazon's seller experience. Your leadership will directly influence how millions of selling partners interact with Amazon's marketplace, ensuring trust and compliance while enabling business growth. You'll also play a vital role in developing the next generation of technical leaders at Amazon.
Key Responsibilities:
• Build and lead teams of software engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation
• Drive architectural decisions and technical strategy for large-scale distributed systems
• Oversee the development of scalable, maintainable solutions for policy adherence and remediation platforms
• Partner with Product, Program Management, and other cross-functional teams to deliver customer-focused solutions
• Lead strategic planning, resource allocation, and roadmap development
• Drive stakeholder management and communication across multiple organizational levels
• Mentor, coach, and develop engineering talent through structured career development plans
• Create opportunities for team growth through technical challenges and leadership opportunities
• Drive operational excellence through metrics, monitoring, and continuous improvement
• Balance technical debt with feature delivery to maintain sustainable development velocity
Required Qualifications:
• 8+ years of software development experience
• 4+ years of experience managing software development teams
• Strong track record of mentoring and developing engineering talent
• Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and stakeholder management
• Strong system design and architectural expertise
• Experience creating and executing career development plans for team members
• Proven track record of delivering large-scale distributed systems
• Experience with agile development methodologies
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with e-commerce platforms and compliance systems
• Track record of building and scaling engineering teams
• Advanced degree in Computer Science or related field
• Experience with cloud technologies (AWS)
• Strong understanding of security and compliance requirements
• Experience with machine learning and automation technologies
• Proven success in developing future technical leaders
• Experience in managing complex, cross-functional initiatives
• Strong track record of influencing senior leadership and driving organizational change
Work Environment:
Based in our Seattle office, you'll lead teams that work collaboratively in person. We believe in the power of face-to-face interactions to drive innovation and technical excellence, with Amazonians working from the office five days per week.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
