    Summary:

    The Idaho Department of Correction currently has an opening for a Financial Technician. This position will work at our Central Office in Boise primarily performing accounts receivable record keeping, maintaining work/spread sheets and other financial documents, reviewing/researching client accounts to identify and resolve discrepancies, preparing accounts for collection, and ensuring financial data is entered accurately and meets compliance standards.

    Responsibilities:

    + Independently perform specialized financial record keeping, maintenance, review, verification and support functions.

    + Use bookkeeping methods and procedures to prepare work/spread sheets, standardized summaries and reports, and other financial documents.

    + Review, complete, and process financial documents and ensure their compliance with laws, regulations, and policies.

    + Use automated systems and system software to enter, retrieve and edit financial data and prepare financial documents.

    + Research using accounting systems and records to identify and correct errors in financial transactions.

    + Has latitude in explaining and applying policies, procedures, or regulations and in determining if financial data meets compliance standards.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + Good knowledge of financial record keeping methods. Typically gained by successful completion of at least two college accounting courses OR successful completion of one college accounting course and six months of related work, OR at least one year of released work experience.

    + Experience researching and compiling financial information and preparing summaries and reports. Typically gained by one (1) year of experience researching and compiling financial information and preparing summaries and reports; OR, six (6) months of experience researching and compiling financial information and preparing summaries and reports AND two (2) college level or training courses related to researching and compiling financial information and preparing summaries and reports (such as, Accounting, Finance, Bookkeeping, QuickBooks, Microsoft Access and/or Excel, etc.)

    + Experience using personal computers to enter, retrieve, and edit financial data. Typically gained by at least three years of experience using this software and applications to enter, retrieve, create, modify and produce financial data AND preparing financial summaries and reports.
