Position Description:

The Senior Accountant plays a key role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial records. This position is responsible for managing complex accounting activities including general ledger reconciliations, financial reporting, and assisting with budgeting and audits. The Senior Accountant ensures that all financial transactions are properly recorded and reported in accordance with GAAP and company policies.

This role involves working closely with internal teams to analyze financial data, improve financial processes, and support strategic decision-making. The Senior Accountant will also provide mentorship to junior accounting staff and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the finance department.

A strong degree of tech savviness is essential for success in this role, as the position requires frequent use of accounting platforms, ERP systems, and data analysis tools. The ideal candidate should be comfortable learning new systems, streamlining processes through automation, and leveraging technology to enhance financial accuracy and efficiency.

Requirements

Requirements of the Position:

Education & Certifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required

+ CPA certification preferred or actively pursuing certification

Experience:

+ 4–6 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in both public and corporate settings

+ Experience with month-end and year-end close processes

+ Proven track record in preparing and analyzing financial statements

Technical Skills:

+ Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

+ Demonstrated tech savviness with accounting and finance tools

+ Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle)

+ Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting platforms

+ Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, macros, formulas)

+ Comfortable using business intelligence tools or dashboards (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) a plus

Soft Skills & Competencies:

+ Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy

+ Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills

+ Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines

+ Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Experience with internal controls or SOX compliance

+ Industry-specific experience (e.g., manufacturing, technology, nonprofit)

+ Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
