Description
Robert Half is partnering with a dynamic and growing client in downtown San Diego to find an experienced Employment Attorney for a contract-to-hire opportunity. This hybrid role offers the best of both worlds: part remote, part downtown-office-vibes — complete with four-legged co-workers who never miss a morning meeting (or treat time).
Responsibilities:
• Offer strategic legal advice to corporate clients on compliance with California and federal labor laws.
• Represent employers in litigation and administrative proceedings involving claims such as wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, and wage disputes.
• Draft and negotiate employment-related agreements, including executive compensation packages, severance agreements, and restrictive covenants.
• Provide guidance on employment policies, employee handbooks, and workplace investigations to reduce legal risks.
• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, briefs, motions, and other essential legal documentation.
• Advocate for clients in hearings before organizations such as the California Labor Commissioner and other relevant agencies.
• Assist clients in addressing employee disputes, internal investigations, and disciplinary actions while ensuring compliance with legal standards.
• Deliver training sessions for HR teams and management on employment law updates and best practices.
• Monitor changes in employment legislation and proactively inform clients of their implications.
• Collaborate with colleagues across various legal disciplines to address complex client needs.
Requirements
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in the California State Bar.
• At least three years of experience specializing in employment law.
• Proven ability to handle litigation and administrative proceedings effectively.
• Strong drafting skills for employment-related agreements and legal documents.
• Familiarity with employment practices in California and federal jurisdictions.
Able to commute to downtown San Diego several days a week
